Usually at a smaller con, it's okay; but there was that one time when I walked into to consuite and it was just packed. Too much noise in such a small space, and even though I really wanted to stay and socialize, it was just utterly overwhelming.
I have been to Gen Con, Dragon*Con, & WorldCon (but not San Diego Comic-Con). The only thing I found overwhelming was the desire to be at multiple panels/events at the same time.
The one time I didn't have con-withdraw was after Arisia 2011. I was staying at a unofficial musicians hostel so after the con I was still around people.
When I go to other cons, I mostly live in the filk room as of late. I have actually gone to panels in the past, and I think I may again, when I stop using music like a drug. :D
Ooh, is this musician hostely thing happening again next year? That could be super awesome!
Delayed withdrawal: Came back to Philly w a bad case of bronchitis. Sitting semiconscious in a hallway somewhere, I think I recognize YOU, batshua, walking down away from me.
Having nothing else to do and nothing else in mind and not much mind at all (may have been waiting for doctor), I figured she'd/you'd be back, 'cause not much down that end but rest rooms. And after a bit there she come.
"Excuse me, were you in Boxboro, Mass., last weekend?" (I didn't remember your name... barely even mine.)
"No." (And I see now her general resemblance to you in many details, but that she ain't thee.)

"Sorry; I mistook you for someone else."
