ok...so ive heard it for years and years and years...and occasionally it irks me to the point that i make a snide comment (usually not intentional...more like...kneejerk defensive reaction) at which point i piss off the person that did it

They think they are being cutesy or more 'Japanese' when they do it, but all it does it makes them seem like they are barely literate idiots. It's just as bad as when people use net' slang in everyday conversations. ex: "I was watching the Oscars last night and oh em gee I el oh elled soooo hard!"
Sadly I still know a couple of people who use Engrish in their everyday speech, and I just wince when I either see them type it or hear them pronounce it (The worst offender I know lives in Japan as an English teacher! >_> Talk about embarrasing!) The only people who can get away with using Engrish are either native Japanese speakers, or Japanese language students who are mocking Engrish, like Carlos and his friends like to do.
