ok...so ive heard it for years and years and years...and occasionally it irks me to the point that i make a snide comment (usually not intentional...more like...kneejerk defensive reaction) at which point i piss off the person that did it

I have often wondered the same thing, and frankly, I find Fangirl Engrish to be FAR more annoying than Fangirl Japanese.

They think they are being cutesy or more 'Japanese' when they do it, but all it does it makes them seem like they are barely literate idiots. It's just as bad as when people use net' slang in everyday conversations. ex: "I was watching the Oscars last night and oh em gee I el oh elled soooo hard!"

Sadly I still know a couple of people who use Engrish in their everyday speech, and I just wince when I either see them type it or hear them pronounce it (The worst offender I know lives in Japan as an English teacher! >_> Talk about embarrasing!) The only people who can get away with using Engrish are either native Japanese speakers, or Japanese language students who are mocking Engrish, like Carlos and his friends like to do.

Oh boy. I have to admit, I got sucked into the whole rhythm of adding in those Japanese words like kawaii, demo and nani into my English sentences back when I was 14 and really into CCS. Luckily, I grew out of it fast and now whenever I see people doing it, I hope they start to realise what immature idiots they are being. The only one I use often now is sugoi coz it has an extra oomph that I think amazing doesn't seem to have. XD I guess some people just think that it's cool to know the Japanese language and want to show off with whatever little knowledge of it that they have. In short, they're attention-seekers. u_u

i usually wince when i see things like that and its usually a clear sign on how new they are as a fan. my hypothesis is that they want to be japanese so bad, they begin to emulate bad japanese english. ^_^;
