Purgatory.

Is this some sort of farce? Fire, smoke--This is no Purgatory, but very nearly the notion of Hell that has been instilled into us.

I suppose that I should not have been expecting anything gre

This is to be eternity, then?

And what is this contraption?

It is very much Purgatory. We are experiencing a drought that has caused the fire.

A drought in Purgatory.

Hardly what I had expected; however, no mortal man could truly "expect" what is to come after death.

A mystery.

What a shame, to be able to answer it, and have it be too late to be of any use.

Well until you atone.

Well...for your sins, they say.

That does make sense, considering what I was told that this place was.

And where to after this?

Yeah, it's pretty much Hell. Welcome.

Thank you. I suppose.

I must admit, despite what was generally thought, I imagined things such as Hell, Purgatory, and Heaven as a sort of state rather than a physical realm. This proves me wrong, though this place is not exactly what was generally thought of as either of the former, either.

There's usually less fire, I have to say. Maybe this is their idea of a holiday weekend.

Yeah, well. Surprise.

A surprise indeed. And what is this place like without the flames that seem to be currently burning the city down?

The Gods call this place Purgatory.

More than one god, and I am talking to one?

Hah. This gets better and better.

I'm not much for long explanations, they should have given you what you need when you woke up.

But this is certainly Purgatory. There is just the matter of a drought that gives it that rather hell-like feel.

Also, how would you possibly know what Hell, truly Hell is like unless you have been there.

Purgatory is susceptible to droughts. Interesting.

I never claimed to know for certain, only what was generally thought. You almost make it sound as if you know what Hell is like, yourself.

Purgatory experiences seasonal changes and the weather as any other, typical place.

I know what a hell is like. It is far less pleasant than this place.

Fascinating. The fires make it difficult to make out, but this place even seems as if...just a simple city.

How would you know that?
