A. [It's morning, and Madame Foster has just been given the basics on Mayfield. It's all very strange to her, but since it's riled her up a little, she's got too much energy to sit down and think about it. So instead, she thinks she'll continue her exploration by meeting her housemates. So ( Read more... )

[As Madame Foster ventures onto one of the streets, she may spot a boy of about twelve delivering newspapers. The term "delivering" is used very loosely here. It's more likely she'll spot him batting newspapers onto rooftops from the sidewalk with a crooked baseball bat and/or stuffing one into the tailpipe of a parked car while wearing a most devious smirk.]

[soon, Madame Foster will tug on the back of his shirt, holding the newspaper from the tailpipe in her hand. It's obviously from there because it's kind of dirty. When he turns around, she'll look up at him with innocent eyes]

Here you go, dearie! ♪

[and holds it out as though it was totally an accident that he left it there.]

Weeeell, that's very good!

But somehow it ended up in a place where it couldn't be read at all! I'm sure you can do much better if you try again though.

[Just the driest of looks before he sighs. She seems to mean well and she reminds him of another old woman he's seen back home, except bespectacled and more cheerful.]

Thanks... ma'am.

Not Ma'am, Madame! I'm Madame Foster. What's your name, friend?

[because yeah, she totally thinks he's an imaginary friend. Causing mischief isn't enough to rank him extremosaurus... yet.]

I'm called Lil' Slugger.

[Another big clue that he's an imaginary friend. Grinning, Slugger chucks the paper into the air and hits it with his bat, sending it flying onto the rooftop of the house where it was supposed to be delivered.]

[Still not great, but not too harmless either. She's sure the inhabitants can get it up there... maybe.]

Pretty strong swing ya got there, Slugger.

Yeah. I'm a pro.

[His grin just gets wider and wider; it's hard to tell exactly what he means by this but his shadowy appearance might suggest something sinister. Hefting the bag of newspapers onto his shoulder again, he continues down the sidewalk contemplating how he should deliver the next one.]
