I'm feeling a bit crappy this morning, so this was wonderful to wake up to (especially given the fact that I'm off to go present shopping today)! It's a lovely ending, and I really like the way that you've written Jo and Castiel. Particularly;

“invading a mind simply to ease the task of shopping for a gift seems to go against the spirit of such a human holiday.”

“Well you’re no fun,”

And Castiel is only tangentially aware of what the hell Jo is trying to say to him

It's just a little shopping trip between two could-be friends with an Apocalypse between them, but it's so much richer - with possibility, wit, sadness. Aughhh.

God, I totally see those two as being able to be openly affectionate with each other, even though we got about five minutes' worth of actual screentime of them. I dunno why, it just WORKS

<3 This was ridiculously heartwarming. I love the idea of Jo being ghostly and helping Cas shop. (From now on my head canon, the reason Castiel wasn't there in the final photograph burning scene is because Jo (and Ellen) are not dead-dead; they can pop in now and then to talk to Cas whenever.) The final part with the amulet and Dean's admission were just perfect. Thanks for sharing! :D

Oh,
this was just lovely. My favorite part is how you find out it's Jo's spirit helping Cas. The whole part about her leaning into Cas' hand, and how Dean won't let Cas give up on his mission. lovely. :)

I didn't realise Jo was dead until you up and said it... whoops. But I loved this fic! Fantastic first livejournal fic :) It was funny and broke my heart a little then put it back together. Great job, thanks for sharing!
