It certainly was colorful. What little I understood of it sounded promising. Actually, articles like that remind me how sparse my knowledge of computer programming really is, and make me grateful that a bare knowledge of perl is enough for everything I need to do on a weekly basis. All hail perl.
Long story short: One of the hardest tricks in high end computing is figuring out how to safely handle information that other programs might be modifying at the same time. I don't even want to go into the myriad subtle ways things can go wrong here. It's usually a senior/graduate level computer science class, and a beast of a class at that
