Well, now that that's over with, maybe I'll get some peace and quiet. At least everyone else had a good time.

I think I will look more into this mansion... entity. And from what I've heard, this Queen of Hearts is a very interesting person herself. Perhaps I'll find something of interest in the collective unconscious.

Besides, I've had little ( Read more... )

What the crud are you going to do with a brain tumbler?

The brain tumbler is a machine that allows the user to enter their own mind. I won't bore you with the details, it's a very complex device.

It's an excellent tool to use when studying the mind.

Tumbling brains isn't that complex, if that's all you need to do to enter your mind why not just whack your head off a wall instead of building some cruddy machine?

It sounds more like a kid torture device if you ask me.

...Because that could cause serious injury? Not to mention the brain tumbler is designed not only to enter your own mind, but the minds of others. It requires a special trance state to do that, especially from a distance.

I assure you, I'm not on some insane mission to torture children. Honestly, are you sure you're not paranoid?

I realize this sounds completely ridiculous, but fairy dust is probably the closest you'll get to any trance-inducing materials around here. Unless you feel like ripping some of those talking mushrooms open the next time they make an appearance, but I don't think hallucinogens are what you're looking for.

... Brain tumbler?

...Mein Gott, you've got to be kidding me.

Ach, I suppose I should be used to this by now.

It's a machine. In short, it lets you go into your own mind, and occasionally the minds of others. However, my problem is that the material which is used to induce the trance required to make the machine work has a tendency to drive most normal people insane. It doesn't effect those with psychic mutations in the brain, but everyone else subjected to it pretty much goes mad. Not very pleasant.

Unfortunately, perhaps, I am entirely serious. The mansion has dragons and Death, so fairies are no suprise.

I must say I've had enough insane people in my life, so I'm not eager to see any more. That rarely ends well. It sounds like a fascinating machine, though I feel compelled to ask: is there a particular purpose you have for encouraging other people to look inside their own minds?

I think I'd feel better if this was some drug-induced hallucination.

Yes, I'd rather avoid causing any future mental instabilities. It's not very fun for anyone involved.

Have you no imagination? Think of all the fascinating we could discovered deep inside the human mind. What makes a person, their fears, their emotions, memories... And things beyond just the individual, the similarities that all minds share, what connects them and what separates them. Certainly you must be at least a little curious?

I hope you're not fussing with this thing, just because my experience with it, wasn't so pleasant.

Now, there's no need to get upset. There were no issues on my end, so the problem must have originated from your own mind. All it means is that you have some issues that you still need to work out.

I understand completely if you do not wish to participate in any more experiments. However, the brain tumbler also gives you an excellent opportunity to overcome these issues, or at least understand them better.

I'm always here, if you change your mind.

I'll be thinking about it.

Let us simply say I've travelled a little--can you offer some further specifics on what you need this compound to do? I may be able to dig some option or other out of the cobwebs of my long memory.

bauhausmind December 29 2007, 03:07:02 UTC
It needs to induce a trance similar to a lucid dream, preferably with minimal memory loss after the trance has ended. I'm not entirely sure how compatible the brain tumbler's design will be with foreign materials, but hopefully nothing too catastrophic.

Hm. If your device should turn out to be compatible with organic substances, there are a few obscure medicinal/sacred substances that occur to me. Mind, I'm not entirely certain the mansion will eagerly provide the likes of otherdimensional toadstools and psychotropic moss, or any other proverbial eye of newt, but I'm willing enough to ask it for you.

Do you have any particular opposition to the use of animal venom? That would open up even more possibilities.

Ah... That is certainly an interesting approach. I'm not sure how effective it will, be but... It doesn't sound any better than fairy dust. I'll see what I can do. Danke, I appreciate your help.

I'm Sasha, by the way. Sasha Nein.
