( for him, their existence is bubbling on the out brink of a war but here there exists nothing but a peacefulness that almost reminds him of his childhood. needless to say, in his wondering it isn't surprising he finds himself drawn toward the water. a life spent near it makes the sound of water lapping against the pier like a lullaby to him, but before he allows the water to take him away into his memories he catches sight of something that causes him to blink.

he knows this young person sitting at the end of the pier, but he knows her at a different time and age and to see her at this age makes him wonder more about this place.

but he approaches nonetheless, stopping before coming to close and smiling faintly as he adjusts the cuffs of his shirt. )

Have you caught anything interesting today?

[instead of turning around, like a normal person would, tallulah instead bends her back backwards toward the sky, even if she knows who's talking, breaking into an almost giddy, childish grin at the question. her hat falls off since she's perched in such an awkward position, but it doesn't seem like a too unusual thing to do to her, at least not at the moment.

after all, to her this is the equivalent to the attention of a father, and it only takes her a short moment to right herself, pulling a small, spikey creature out of her (now soaked) jacket pocket, and offering it up to him, considering she is considerably shorter than him at this point.]

Yeah dad, look! It's an urchin! [the title of 'dad' is far from dying in her vocabulary at this point as she cradles the little thing, trying to pass it off to him.] Hold it for a second, it needs more water!

( he really can't help but smile at the sight, and the title. it a strange feeling to, to smile for the first time in what seemed like forever. but the strangeness of the moment only lasts for what seems like seconds and it feels as though he never stopped in the first place.

he raises a brow though at the urchin, but nevertheless holds out his hands in order to take it. looking the creature over as he cradles it in a way similar to how she had before looking back to her, and nodding. )

All right then. ( a moment's pause and then a sigh. ) Wonder what else is hiding in the waters of this strange place.

[and by getting it more water, she means leaning over the side of the pier, her legs acting as levers as her entire top half dangles over the water, trying to grab a hand full of water so that the urchin will stay alive. she was only keeping it out of curiosity, anyway. when she finally manages to get a hand full of water, she pulls herself back up, showing a considerable amount of muscle strength for her age at getting up with no hands.

she offers them as she approaches again.] Here, put it in the water. I don't want it to die! [since, you know, sea creatures are more important than land creatures. that, and, her fascination with ocean things certainly hasn't dwindled.]

I don't know! I haven't caught anything but this, and I can't eat this! [her voice is characteristically squeaky with excitement, mainly because he's there.] Not even the crab traps work!
