Very insightful, as always.

I completely agree with what you've written here. I can't miss what I've never had, and the idea of adjusting to vision isn't one I find the least bit compelling. We're not broken. There's no need to fix us.

But they are "curious" and "want to see what's going on back there." Not on my watch you aren't. I'm lucky that my regular ophthalmologist gets it.

Thanks for this post! It was really interesting.

I must be unusual, I'd rather lose my sight than my hearing. I once heard it explained that being blind isolates you from things, but being deaf isolates you from people. A generalization of course (curtesy of The Baby-Sitter's Club, I believe), but it's always made sense to me.

Everyone is different I suppose. People seem to fear blindness so much. I don't see the fear in hearing loss as much. Thanks so much for reading and your comment!

When the specialist gave me the information I asked for there was no way I was going to allow them to do anything. I'm content to leave things as they are! Thanks for reading!

I wouldn't want to be anyone's experiment either. Nicely done.
