In 2009 I was fortunate to go to the Netherlands to visit a friend for her 50th birthday. This was the first time I ventured anywhere outside of the United States. Besides dealing with all of the documentation needed to travel: Passport, health records for my guide dog, and approval by the Department of Agriculture in order to travel with Yancy, my ( Read more... )

Yes it's the traditional way of keeping money organized. But it doesn't make things really compact in my wallet. I am lucky that I have a wallet that has 4 compartments so I don't have to fold it now. Thanks for reading!

What a wonderfully informative entry! WhileI was aware that Canadian paper money is of different colors for different denominations, I was unaware of the tactile variations for those with visual challenges.

IThank you for an other informative, insightful, and educational entry. I'm starting to really look forward to reading your entries each week.

It is kind of confounding that we haven't altered our money to make each currency distinct to the visually impaired. Coins would seem workable to me, except that I'll bet the Susan B. Anthony dollar and the quarter feel similar, unless the flattened edges on that dollar are very distinct.

We should just bite the bullet and modernize, instead of piecemealing our way through decades.

Thankfully the Susan B Anthony coin didn't fly very well. It's possible to distinguish it fromt he quarter but it takes a good sense of touch. Sometimes the powers that be confound me! Thanks for reading and your comment!

I loved taking home with me the info on money organisation in the wallet for easy identification. We have currencies of different colours and sizes in India .. so we are a bit friendly in that respect. Your article got me thinking how difficult it would be if it weren't and appreciative of my own currency :)

As I said, most other countries have fairly accessible currency so it's really frustrating that it's been such a big deal! Thanks so much for your comment!
