This is a tough, but necessary job you have. How do you guard yourself in this constant flow of negativity?

I balance it out with lots of positives. I leave the job at the door. I don't socialize with people from work because inevitably the conversation gets around to the job and I have to make a clear separation. I've been doing this sort of thing for many years and in order to stay positive and not get sucked in it's taken work to keep going in an effective way. I don't want to be one of those jaded human service people who treat everyone like crap! Smile. Thanks for your comment! Hope all is well!

That's a pretty rough day to day thing to do. But on hindsight it can be fun too considering the various kinds of people you meet and interact with ... so much food for stories and writing .... and those comments in your head ... it is really private entertainment !!!

Yeah the comments in my head get a bit colorful at times. And once in a while one slips through the filter when I hang up the phone which provides entertainment for the person in the next office! Grins. Thanks for reading!

No this isn't the norm but I do get my fair share of calls and walk ins like this. I just deal and hope that the next call will be a legitimate need.
