Gosh yes, I know that when I am in a place with lots of racial tension I like to mimic hanging myself with a noose, always gets a laugh! What do you mean racial insensitivity? Nooses are good clean fun!

When discussing appropriation today, I had to remind my students that being oppressed in the past or in some way does not render one unable to act violently, cruelly, or oppressively.

I wish the UC was doing more to really address the issue. One of our faculty members suggested adding race and ethnic bias to the sexual harassment training that we all have to take. Now that I think about it, I can't believe that it isn't there already. -sigh-
