Why do I receive offline IMs?

(08:50:31 AM) AOL System Msg: You just received 1 IM(s) while you were offline. If you do not wish to receive offline messages, please go to IM Settings

I go to IM settings, and the checkbox is unchecked. I don't understand why I am receiving these when the settings indicate that I don't want to.

I'm just asking why AOL offers an option but then doesn't pay attention to it.

I like how the offline message you received, despite telling AOL you don't want any, was from AOL. Hah!
