Question: is it bad form or a just don't do it...

So I finished my werewolfbigbang a Lotrips/CW rps fic that I'll be posting tomorrow (actually today and unlocking tomorrow). Anyhoo I'm not done with the verse and will definitely be writing a sequel. One of the banners my artist did kept poking me so I wrote this teaser. When I got it back my beta, she questioned that it might be against the rules, so I emailed ( Read more... )

Sounds like a fine idea to me. (: And it lets your readers know that there'll be more coming, so they should look out for it.

The only questionable bit is if the mods will allow you to use it in the next bang as a portion of the story's text. Depending on how long the teaser is and how strict the mods are about all text being new, it sounds like a great idea.

Thank you! You guys definitely helped out. Instead of saying its a teaser, I have it as the epilogue basically accomplishing both jobs ;)

I don't see why it would be against the rules. It's not like there is anything in any big bang rules (as far as I know) that tells you you can't in anyway promote a sequel to a fic you've just posted on your own journal. Lol. Why should they be bothered? If they are, seems a bit... petty. *shrugs*

Thanks! No, I didn't see any either, but I went ahead and switched it to an epilogue - still it accomplishes both ;)

So awesome that you're already working on a next part!

I think the only thing you'd have to be careful of is that many big bangs include as part of the rules that your story must be complete at the time of posting so some strict mods may take the inclusion of a teaser to the next part of a story to mean that you're posting a WIP rather than a complete work. But as long as your story is complete as is, as a mod I wouldn't take issue with it if someone in one of my bangs wanted to do it. I think as long as you emphasize the completeness of the current part you'll be just fine.

...strict mods may take the inclusion of a teaser to the next part of a story to mean that you're posting a WIP... True. It's actually a crossover Lotrips/CW rps. The part I'm posting in a half hour is mainly Lotrips and I do tie things up for the main pairings and the storyline. Its the CW rps side that's left hanging and the epilogue/teaser addresses one of those threads.

I haven't heard back from any of the Mods but I think it'll be fine. Besides its Lotrips I kinda doubt anyone will read it *shrugs*

Anyhoo, thank you for your thoughts, it definitely helped!

That makes sense. I certainly wouldn't worry about it and to include it in the epilogue is a fantastic way to address it.

I would be careful though, the last time I posted a big bang saying no one was going to read it anyway it ended up being my most read story ;) You never know what folks are going to go for.

Congrats on finishing (stage one) of the project and good luck with the posting!

I don't see any reason not to include it.
or at least a link to it
