Notes: This is my first fic ever, and it turned out way longer than I expected. And I wrote porn and it’s probably not very good, so I’m sorry for that. But comment honestly, and please don’t be rude. And I hope you enjoy!

I had no Beta for this… Sorry about the mistakes.

There once was a man named Sam. Sam was a good man who loved his family and friends. Sam lived alone and he was often very lonely; so lonely in fact that his friends and coworkers were starting to notice. This leads to a very uncomfortable discussion about Sam’s social and personal life that Sam would rather not have to relive.   But needless to say everyone agreed that Sam needed to find a companion to share his life with. Sam ultimately decided that companionship would be easiest gained by getting a puppy; which is exactly what he decides to do.

Wednesday finds Sam at his local animal shelter. He scours the cages looking for a dog that is cute and lovable. He comes across a Yellow Lab, and is informed by a nice lady named Pam, that the dog’s name is Dean and he was abandoned by his previous family. The dog has an adorable face that Sam just can’t say no to; and thus Sam ends up taking Dean home with him.

Sam supposes this isn’t exactly what his coworkers had in mind when they suggested a companion; but what better way to meet women than by having a cute dog? Sam decides to spend his free time in the dog park in hopes of meeting a nice woman, or you know at least someone capable of talking.

*****

There are a wide variety of women milling around the dog park; some of which are very good-looking and others who are decidedly not. The first week Sam sees a woman with long blonde hair and mile long legs. He’s immediately attracted to her and she owns a tiny dog. They talk frequently at the park and he finds out her name is Jessica. He accidently asks her out one Friday afternoon, when there is a lull in the conversation. It turns out Jessica is already dating some guy, which turns out ok because Dean is afraid of her tiny Chihuahua Becky.

*****

After Jessica comes Madison. She is at the park on a daily basis and has a very large Alaskan Malamute. She strikes up a conversation about women’s underwear one day, which if Sam is honest, he thinks is a little weird, but she is gorgeous and available so Sam goes for it.

They date for two months before Sam finds out that she has some sort of personality disorder. Her moods change with the phases of the moon; and on the full moon she is one crazy woman. Mostly because she ties Sam to the bed and drizzles something on him that feels suspiciously like maple syrup but smells of something Sam is unable to identify. It takes him five showers until he feels un-sticky.

Needless to say after that revelation Sam refuses to see Madison anymore. This upsets Dean very much because Dean developed a relationship with Madison’s dog Cassie; which surprised Sam to no end because Cassie and Dean were always yipping at each other and to anyone who didn’t know Dean, it would seem as though the two dogs despised one another.

*****

Sam gives up on dating for awhile after that disaster. That is until he accidently meets Sarah. She is intelligent and laid-back and everything Sam wants in a woman. They date for nine month and they are the happiest nine months of Sam’s life to date. Sarah is an artist and does paintings and murals for different people all over the city. Sam spends a majority of his time at Sarah’s apartment sometimes posing for pictures, sometimes just hanging out and watching TV and other times doing other extra curricular activities.

Sam is pretty much in love. Until he finds out that Lisa, Sarah’s Golden Retriever, is pregnant. Sarah is adamant that Dean had somehow impregnated Lisa. Sam is mostly positive that Dean is neutered and that it isn’t possible for him to do such a thing. This results in a semi-crazed Sam taking a trip to the vet to make completely sure that Dean is in fact neutered; which then leads to a few laughs from the vet and his reassurance that Dean can not make puppies with anybody or any dog rather.

About five weeks after that pregnancy scare, Lisa gives birth to 4 puppies. Sarah keeps them until they are able to give puppies are independent enough to be given away. Three puppies are given to friends and family members who promise to take excellent care of them. One puppy, which is given the name Ben, stays with Lisa and Sarah.

Dean loves little Ben. He cares for him like the puppy is his own and eventually Lisa and Dean fall into a familial routine. That is until Sarah drops another bomb on Sam. She is moving to New York to work in a gallery that is willing to show her work and it means she would need to be in the city full time. So she leaves, taking Lisa and Ben with her.

*****

Three months later a woman named Ruby comes over and introduces herself to Sam at the dog park. She has long dark hair and is very feisty, which is different for Sam. He agrees to go out with her and is pleasantly surprised to find out that Ruby is different when alone than she is hanging out at the park. She’s friendly and passionate.

Sam falls for her very quickly. They make plans to move in together after only knowing each other four months. It isn’t until Sam catches Ruby in bed with another man that he suspects something is wrong. The other man’s name is Al or something, Sam’s really too pissed off to care at that point. He storms out in an angry rage without giving Ruby a chance to explain herself, because really what’s there to explain. Dean is hot on Sam’s heels and he’s glad to be rid of that Rottweiler Meg, who really is quite the demon.

*****

Dean meets a Black Lab a month later. Sam has never seen this particular dog around the park before. He tries to be inconspicuous in finding dog’s owner but he is having little success. The black lab is very reserved and unresponsive to Dean’s attempts at friendship. He (Sam assumes it is a male dog) won’t even let Dean get a good sniff at his butt before he trots away to lie on the grass as far away from Dean as possible.

The dog returns daily and Dean isn’t making any headway with the dog at all. Sam on the other hand has identified the owner of the dog. He turns out to be a small man with floppy hair and never sees him without some sort of sugary treat.

Sam watches the man as often as he can without seeming completely obvious. But he finds out a week later that he is unsuccessful in that endeavor. Especially when the man in question plops down next to Sam one day to question “see anything you like?” To which Sam’s response is a prominent blush and an incoherent stuttered response.

The guy’s name is Gabriel and he just moved into town with his dog Castiel. Sam questions the name and Gabriel’s only response is a shrug and to say he brought him home on a Thursday and naming things really isn’t his strong point. Sam and Gabriel become friends and meet on a daily basis at the dog park.

Dean finally makes some progress with the reserved Lab. Dean gets a good long sniff at Castiel’s butt and is apparently satisfied with what he finds because he goes out of his way to impress Castiel from then on. Castiel seems uninterested and Sam questions this on Dean’s behalf.

“Cas doesn’t like any other dogs. So Dean shouldn’t take it too personal,” is Gabriel’s answer. Sam finds this an unsatisfying answer and keeps questioning.

“Cas was abused as a puppy and left to die. He was in a family of other dogs who were trained to take part in illegal dog fights and practiced on Castiel.” Sam feels sufficiently chastised and unbearably sad on behalf of poor Castiel. “He has scars all over his belly. He never lets anyone near his belly except for me; he doesn’t trust anyone but me.”

Dean, it seems, has made it his life goal is to befriend Castiel. He tries everything. Sharing his favorite ball ends with Dean panting and exhausted from chasing Castiel over the park. An attempt to lick Castiel’s nose finds Dean pinned beneath an extremely pissed off Castiel. Dean tones it down after that and is apparently content just to lay next Castiel in the sun.

*****

Sam dates periodically while being friends with Gabriel. Gabriel never shows interest any of the women that approach him in the park, or at the coffee shop, or in the grocery store, or anywhere he happens to be with Sam. Sam notices Gabriel retreats further into himself every time Sam mentions the woman he’s currently involved with. Gabriel acts similar to a petulant five year old until Sam takes the hint and changes the subject.

Sam and Gabriel spend most of their time at the park, but when they are not there they can usually be found at Gabriel’s apartment. Mostly because there is always alcohol and his couch is much more comfy than Sam’s.  They tend to watch movies or television and laze around while their dogs do the same.

Sam begins to notice new things about Gabriel as they hang around his house. The coffee Gabriel makes is the most delicious that Sam’s ever tasted. Or the fact that no matter how much food Gabriel eats, he never seems to gain a pound. Or even the fact that Gabriel is quite smart underneath the funny guy persona that he seems to take refuge behind. Sam maybe even notices that Gabriel is attractive. You know for a guy, if Sam was into that sort of thing, but he’s not, at least he’s pretty sure that he’s not.

He continues to freak out for many weeks and dates a few more women to just remind himself that he really does like the curves and softness that women provide.  Eventually he gives up entirely on the female species because he can’t seem to stop comparing all the women he dates to Gabriel and it is starting to scare him. He avoids Gabriel like the plague for two whole weeks. He doesn’t show up at the dog park at their appointed time which upsets Dean greatly. He whines at the door for a good hour until he gives up, lies down and pouts for the rest of the day.

*****

Sam returns to the park to find Gabriel in a very pissed off mood. Their conversation is stilted and Gabriel replies most often with one word answers. Sam feels awful and the next day returns with a large bag of Hersey’s kisses and an apology. Things go back to normal after that. Or rather as normal as things can be when you’re having an intense freak out about whether or not you’re in love with your best friend, who just happens to be male.

Dean and Castiel get along better now. Sam supposes that Castiel has come to trust Dean won’t hurt him and becomes more affectionate. Dean has fallen completely in love with Castiel. Sam thinks their puppy love is completely adorable, in a manly way of course. It’s a testament to how in love Dean is that one night, while Sam and Gabriel are watching the Game Show Network, Dean rolls over and presents his underbelly to Castiel for inspection, or something similar since Sam has no knowledge of dog socialization practices. Castiel seems surprised and then abruptly goes about wagging his tail happily. Castiel goes about licking Dean and Dean soaks up the affection with an expression of doggie bliss.

“Guess we know who the bitch in this relationship is,” Gabriel comments with a smile and Sam can’t help but smile along with him, even while his dog’s manliness is being called into question.

*****

Everything changes after that. Sam decides that if Dean can make so much progress when Castiel was adamantly unresponsive, then Sam can certainly take a chance with Gabriel. So Sam stares more openly, lets his touches linger longer than normal, and brings small presents and trinkets when he finds them. He thinks that he’s doing a great job making a move, but Gabriel seems reluctant to reciprocate, or maybe he just doesn’t know what’s going on, or he’s not interested and this is his subtle way of letting Sam down gently, or…

“Why Sammy if I didn’t know any better I’d say you are trying to court me.” Gabriel’s eyes are shining with mischief and Sam’s frightened that he’s done something terribly wrong and compromised this friendship. “Are you attempting to court me Sammy-boy?”

That question makes Sam uncomfortable because of course he is trying to ‘court’ Gabriel, or whatever. So Sam isn’t exactly sure how to answer that question. Should he say yes and risk rejection? Or play it off as a joke? He knows his cheeks are probably the color of a fire engine. He’s looking at the ground as he answers “I was, you know, maybe, only if you wanted…” God could he sound any more stupid, there is no way Gabriel will agree now.

“Seriously?” Great now he’s going to be laughed at as well as rejected.

Except his field of vision is full of Gabriel’s clearly confused face and Sam is about ready to get the hell out of there, but Gabriel anticipates this and grabs Sam’s wrist affectively anchoring him in his current position. “Do you serious about wanting to start something with me?”

It’s a simple yes or no question, but Sam’s mind goes into over-analyze mode and he’s quite for a long time. This is just too difficult because Sam has never wanted to start a relationship as bad as he wants to start one with Gabriel. “Yes,” he finally answers, “I want to start something with you.”

This is apparently the right response because Gabriel’s face lights up. “Well then Prince Charming, I suggest you take me to ball.”

Sam’s elated for the rest of the week and can’t wait for his first official date with Gabriel. Dean is happy that Sam is happy, but Sam suspects that he’s really just excited that he’ll be seeing Castiel more often.

*****

They’ve agreed to take it slow for Sam’s sake since he’s never dated or you know done anything remotely sexual with a guy. Gabriel’s admitted to dating both men and women but mostly men, so he’s way more comfortable with this whole thing than Sam.

It’s not until after their sixth date that they have their first kiss.  They’re at Gabriel’s apartment watching TV, sitting side by side on the couch closer together now they actually are together. Sam’s not exactly sure what they’re watching anymore but it doesn’t matter because he’s leaning in and thank God that Gabriel catches on and turns to face him and get with the program, but Gabriel doesn’t lean in at all. It’s up to Sam to make the first move and make it he does. Sam’s lips are finally on Gabriel’s and it’s good. Or rather great because it’s been so long since Sam’s been close to someone and Gabriel is warm and pliant and willing. And Sam is pushing Gabriel into the couch and his hands are everywhere and Gabriel is allowing it because he wants this just as bad.

Then Sam’s thigh is brushing against Gabriel’s erection and Gabriel is moaning into Sam’s mouth and it’s hot and they’re both hard. And suddenly Sam’s gone to the other side of the couch. He’s out of breath. Gabriel looks adorably confused and debauched. “Sorry,” Sam apologizes. “It’s just too fast.  And too much… and I just had to stop. Sorry.”

Gabriel’s eyes are closed and Sam’s pretty sure he’s taking deep breaths in order to keep himself under control. “It’s Ok Sam. We said we agreed to go slowly; and as much as I don’t really want to stop, I respect that you’re not ready.” Then his eyes are open and staring right at Sam while he says, “God Sammy… If you’re as good in bed as you are at kissing, I’m sure you’ll be well worth the wait.”

Sam returns home to take a cold shower before going to bed.  That night he dreams of Gabriel and wakes up sticky and happier than he’s been in a long time.

*****

One month later finds them on the couch with Gabriel’s hand down Sam’s pants and his teeth on Sam’s neck. It feels good and Sam is moaning and writhing and clutching at Gabriel’s back in attempts to ground himself and not come too soon. Gabriel is tightening his grip just right and Sam’s leaking steadily. Then Gabriel is straddling his thigh so he has something to rut against and Sam is gone with a high pitched keen.

His boxers are sticky; he’s embarrassed at his lack of control and Gabriel is still hard against his thigh. “You ok there Sammy?” Sam nods slowly. His eyes are drooping and all he really wants now is go to sleep. But he’s in a relationship now and has someone else’s pleasure to worry about along with his own. Then Sam’s hands are on Gabriel’s pants; he’s undoing the button and getting the zipper down so he can get his hands on Gabriel’s dick.

It’s different than when Sam does this to himself; Gabriel is smaller than and not as thick as but it’s essentially the same. Sam’s gripping Gabriel like he likes to be gripped and apparently it’s good because Gabriel is moaning and thrusting into his hand. And Sam’s nipping at his neck and whispering dirty things in his ear and then Gabriel is stilling above him as he comes all over Sam’s fingers.

Gabriel leads Sam to the bedroom for some much need sleep after they’ve cleaned themselves up. Dean and Castiel are happily napping in the kitchen with Castiel’s head on Dean’s belly. Sam can’t help but think how lucky he is to have Gabriel and for Dean to have Castiel.

*****

Sam moves into Gabriel’s apartment after they’ve been in a relationship for a year. Dean has never been happier. Castiel is much more relaxed. Gabriel is ecstatic and only seems to stop talking when Sam’s tongue is in his mouth; which suits Sam just fine, since he’s more than willing to make out with Gabriel all day long, but that’s usually not a viable option.

Gabriel is much more forthcoming with information now that he’s almost positive that Sam is there to stay. Gabriel has been hurt before by other men who were only interested in sex and then high-tailed it out of there once it became more relationship than sex. Sam and Gabe have yet to have sex. They’ve exchanged handjobs and blowjobs numerous times, but there’s been a complete lack of sex. Not because neither of them want to; it’s mostly because Sam is a chicken.

*****

Sam loves Gabriel. Sam loves that Gabriel’s smaller than him but still strong enough manhandle Sam when the occasion calls for it. Loves that he’s emotional and intelligent and just there; there when Sam needs him and even when Sam doesn’t know he needs Gabe there. He loves that Gabriel’s got a sweet tooth that can rival most children and always tastes like candy. He loves that Gabriel is as affectionate Dean as much as he is with Castiel. But mostly Sam loves that Gabriel loves him.

*****

They share a bed. Sam likes it. Likes that he falls asleep and wakes up to the same warm body day after day. Gabriel doesn’t pressure Sam for sex for which Sam is very grateful. Sam researched; yes he did actual research, about guy on guy sex. He just wants to know what to expect. By that time he’s decided he trusts and that they should just go for it.

“I think we should just go for it,” Sam tells Gabriel one night while they are in bed together. Gabriel looks confused asks Sam to clarify what exactly they are going for. “You know…” He is still looking confused, “sex.”

“Now?” Sam nods. “You’re sure?” Another nod. “ Well ok. You wanna top?” Negative. Gabriel’s eyes go wide. “You’re sure? Like absolutely sure?”

“Yes Gabe. I trust you. Know you’ll make it good.” There’s a long exhale that comes from Gabriel. Sam’s sure he’s trying to stay calm because Gabe’s been hard against his thigh since Sam said he would bottom. Sam rolls them so that Gabriel’s on top and spreads his legs so Gabe can fall in between.

They kiss long and slow and Sam’s shaking by the time Gabe has got Sam’s shirt up under his armpits. Then his shirt is gone and Gabe’s is too and there’s skin on skin. It feels good and its grounding for Sam. His quivering is subsiding by the time Gabe has both their pants off. Now they’re naked; Gabriel has his mouth on one of Sam’s nipples and is pinching and teasing the other.

Sam’s panting, moaning, and rubbing against Gabriel trying to get more friction on his cock. Then Gabe’s gone and Sam lets out a groan of disappointment. Gabe is back and he engulfs Sam’s cock in the tight heat of his mouth and Sam to hold back when he wants to bad to buck upwards. Sam’s so distracted by the wetness that is Gabriel’s mouth he almost doesn’t notice the pressure against his entrance. He tenses. The suction is gone and Gabe is soothing him with nonsense words and soft touches. “Still sure about this?” he questions and Sam gives a slow nod. “Ok I need you to relax or this will hurt.”

Sam lets out a shaky breath as Gabe begins to push one lubed up finger inside him. It feels strange and Sam is tensing again. Gabe stops; he sooths until the finger is all the way in. The finger is moving slowly in and out. It’s getting better until Gabe positions another finger at Sam’s entrance. It continues the same way until Gabe is three fingers deep and Sam is moaning; except when Gabriel crooks his fingers just right, then he’s letting out a high pitched keen.

Gabe is sure Sam is ready now; he’s withdraws his fingers, and Sam makes an unhappy noise, but then Gabriel is kissing him and lining up and pushing in slowly. Sam feels full, too full; but Gabe is there with soothing hands running up and down his sides until he’s all the way in. “Still ok Sammy?” Sam’s nods slowly. His eyes are squeezed shut and he looks pained. Gabe is not ok with that. “Need you to look at me Sammy.” A shake of the head, “Sam, please. I need to know this is still ok. I need to know you still want this, with me.”

Sam’s eyes open at that statement. “Of course I still want this. I’ll always want you. I love you.” They’re kissing again. This time it’s slower, but still as passionate. Sam has to break away for air, “Gabe, need you to move. Please.” This time Gabriel is able see in Sam’s eyes how much Sam wants this. Gabriel nods and starts shallow roll of his hips into Sam.

The depth of Gabe’s thrusts pick up. Their lovemaking is slow and unhurried and Sam loves it. He loves Gabriel and he can’t believe he waited so long to do this; to trust Gabriel to make him feel good and loved and happy. Sam’s happy, for the first time in a long time Sam is truly happy.

Gabriel’s hand is on his cock now. His grip is tight and his hand moves with the slow pace of his hips. It’s enough; Sam’s coming over his stomach and Gabe’s hand. He can feel himself clamping down on Gabriel and then he’s over the edge too; filing Sam with hot come. Sam’s happy; more so now that he has Gabriel. Now that he’s been vulnerable with Gabe and Gabriel is still here; still inside him, on top of him. They’re both sweaty and sticky with Sam’s come stuck between their stomachs.

Gabriel’s looking at him now. He looks small as vulnerable as Sam feels inside. Then he’s gone and Sam’s left confused and cold. But Gabriel returns with a warm towel; he uses it to wipe the stickiness from Sam’s stomach and between his legs. Sam smiles his appreciation and Gabriel is tugging him into a tight embrace. Now Sam’s confused. “Gabe?” Sam questions quietly. Gabriel shakes his head and Sam is pretty sure there are tears dripping onto Sam’s shoulder. Sam pulls Gabriel back quickly, “Gabriel, what’s wrong?”

Gabe just shakes his head; tears still rolling down his cheeks and he won’t meet Sam’s eye. Sam tries to coax Gabriel into meeting his gaze, but Gabriel is having none of it. “Gabriel, please tell me what’s wrong.” Sam’s pleading now. He needs to, has to find out what is causing his lover to cry. Gabe’s arms are tight around his torso again and his face is buried in Sam’s neck. So Sam does the only thing that makes sense in this situation; he rubs his up and down Gabriel’s back in a comforting manner and murmuring nonsense into his hair.

His crying eventually ceases. Sam can tell he is exhausted by the set of his shoulders and the laxness in his grip. They’re both exhausted, but they need to fix this, whatever this is, now before they sleep. “You ready to talk now?” He questions.  Gabriel’s eyes are on Sam’s; they are red and puffy and there are prominent tear tracks on his cheeks.

“It’s just… I’ve never done this before.”

“Done what? Had sex? I thought you told me you had…” Gabriel is shaking his head now. “No?”

“No, I’ve had sex plenty of times before.”

“Way to make a guy feel insignificant,” Sam jokes.

“You’re not insignificant Sam,” Gabriel says fiercely. “Don’t you ever say anything like that again.”

“Ok. I won’t self-incriminate anymore. But can you please explain to me what exactly it is we are talking about.” Sam’s tired and he wants to sleep, but first he needs answers and Gabriel has yet to be forthcoming with information.

Gabriel is refuses to meet his eye and instead he is speaking to the green sheets that adorn their bed. “I’ve never made love with anyone before.” He looks up, “It’s always been sex or fucking or another crude term. Now I have you and I love you. And I’ve never waited so long to have sex with anyone.” Sam open his mouth to apologize but Gabriel cuts him off, “I’m not complaining about the waiting Sammy. Or the sex because that was… Let’s just say I can’t wait for us to do that again as soon as possible,” Sam notices Gabriel seem to be on a roll and patiently waits for him to make his point. “Sorry, I got sidetracked. But we’re in a relationship. A real relationship and you wanted that from me even before we did any of the fun stuff. I suppose I’m just trying to thank you for putting up with me. I know I’m not quite easy to deal with and…” That ends what Sam was sure would have been a half hour long tirade on Gabriel’s faults and Sam is sure he possibly rehearsed prior, but he’s not one hundred percent on that. So instead Sam decided this is a good time to Gabriel’s mouth better use.

They break for air. “I love you. I love all of you. Now please stop berating yourself so we can go to sleep. I’m tired and achy and sore in places I’ve never been sore before. But I love you and I will be sticking around and now I’d like to go to sleep with the man I love if that’s ok with you.”

“I suppose I can indulge you this one time Sam,” Gabriel responds with a blinding smile.

With some maneuvering they end up with Gabriel’s back pressed into Sam’s front. Sam smiles contently to himself and drifts off peacefully with his lover nestled in his arms.

*****

Sam and Gabriel wake up late. Sam’s very thankful that it is the weekend and neither he nor Gabriel has to work. They cuddle in the bed for as long as possible until Gabriel’s stomach protests loudly in favor of being fed. On the way to the kitchen they check the living room to make sure neither dog had an accident while they were being otherwise occupied.

The sight in the living room is shocking. Not because either dog had an accident, because that’s not it. The sight they are met with stuns Gabriel to near silence.

“I thought you said…” Sam begins.

“I did. He never…” Gabriel starts, “I guess he finally decided that Dean was worth trusting.”

Dean and Castiel are asleep on the rug in the living room. Castiel is on his back with his legs hanging haphazardly in the air and Dean’s head is resting on his stomach. Sam can see what Gabriel meant by Castiel never showing his belly to those he doesn’t trust. His abdomen is littered with scars; plenty of them are tiny but there are three huge scars down his middle. It looks as though Castiel was torn open at some point and stitched back together. If Sam had scars like those he wouldn’t allow anyone near his sensitive belly either.

Dean pears blearily over at Sam and Gabriel in a look that clearly says you can clearly see this is private so please go away. “I think we’re being told to get out,” Sam states.

“Are we now?” Sam nods. “Well I suppose we should leave and let them be. Plus I’m quite hungry and I’d like to regain my energy so I can take you back to our bedroom and ravish you again.”

Sam’s eyebrows rise at that statement. “Is that so?” The grin he gets in return sets Sam’s cheeks aflame.

“Unless you have something else planned?” Sam can’t really think of any better way to spend his day. And clearly Dean would like some alone time with his puppy lover.

So that’s how they spend the day; Sam and Gabriel leaving bed only when strictly necessary or to let their dogs out to use the bathroom. Sam has never been so happy and owes all of his happiness to Dean, well and Gabriel. But without Dean Sam would have never met Gabriel, so maybe he suspects maybe owes his happiness to both of them.

And they all lived happily ever after.

The End
