Harry "Breaker" Morant had the most bad-ass last words of all time. I challenge you - all of you - to name someone who did better!

"Je vais ou je vas mourir, l'un et l'autre se dit ou se disent."
- Dominique Bouhours, a great exponent of French Grammar. ¬.¬

Or, being serious:

Adieu, mes amis. Je vais à l'amour!
- Isadora Duncan, creator of modern dance

... though she didn't intend them to be her last words ...

Can you translate for my poor, deprived, monolingual brain? (Breaker Morant's last words, I should have mentioned in the OP, were "Shoot straight, you bastards. Don't make a mess of it!" addressed to his firing squad)

'scuse my French :D

Bouhours felt that the most important thing to do when uttering your last sentence was to point out that a minor grammatical quirk was in fact applicable in this one particular situation:
"I am about to or I am going to die, either expression could be used."

Whereas poor Isadora, seconds before her death:
"Goodbye, my friends. I am off to love!"
... Though most people politely say instead "off to glory", as it sounds less like she was about to bed her paramour :D
