Whoa. You won me in the first paragraph and kept winning me all the way through with this. It's very Owen, very Jack, very evocative. I love the contrast between heat and cold and Jack and Owen and snow and not melting and it. It's just *good* and lovely and the characters are perfect.

Also, interestingly, there's a couple of episodes of Doctor Who that have snow that's not. One is the TARDIS seeding clouds, more or less, but the other is the ash of an alien ship drifting down, after Torchwood in London destroys it (against the Doctor's wishes) - and that's the episode the Doctor loses the hand Jack kept in a jar in TW. So. Even a neat solid tie in there.

Just wonderful.

Thank you! So glad you liked it. I'll stop my anxious fretting now.

And wow, that's pretty weird. Cool, but weird. Now I'm going to have to go find those.

They're the two christmas specials. The Christmas Invasion and The Run Away Bride. The Christmas Invasion's the one you want, I think. It is weird, but it's also AWESOME.

...Can I link this from my fandom journal or would you rather I didn't?

Here from Becky's journal and I just have to say that I love this to bits. The metaphor you've got going here, frozen and thawing and heat and cold, it just works so beautifully for these two, and Owen's grumbling and thoughts are so very him.

Not a pairing I generally go for but you made me believe it and like it. Just one tiny nitpick, about the line you have Owen say, and it's something I seem to see all over the place

"No, I like making shite up just so I sound nutters."

You don't sound nutters. You can be a nutter or sound like a nutter, but it isn't used in the same way as 'sounding nuts' might be in US English. Sounding mental or barmy or mad would also be fine.
