The X-Files, The Twilight Series, Not Really a Poll Poll

OK, Chris Carter, I'm willing to forgive you a little bit. And by that, I mean I'll no longer append "that bastard, may he burn in Hell" to the end of your name each time I speak of you. But don't think I've forgotten seasons 7-9 ( Read more... )

not really a poll poll, x-files, twilight

Haven't even started it yet. Kirky did a few weeks ago - finished all three books in a week.

Kirky's a freak of nature with the speed reading. :)

I've read the whole series. (Just finished BD about an hour ago.) The ending was fine. Stephenie Meyer could learn a lot from JKR, but these books wouldn't even be in the Top 50 of Worst Books I've Ever Read. I've liked the odd numbered books much better than the even numbered books, but I think a lot of that has to do with the way Bella acted in those books. I think people read way too much into the story. These are Fantasy books through and through, and you have to have a certain suspension of belief when reading them.

I get annoyed at the comparisons, too. The books really have nothing in common, except they both draw certain plot points from vampire and werewolf mythologies.

Your odd/even comment is interesting, as I did enjoy Twilight as a good read, and it *was* Bella's actions who made me put down book two. Maybe I would have enjoyed three better?

We should totally do a Top 50 Worst Books I've Ever Read list.

If you enjoyed Twilight, I think you might enjoy Eclipse. The angst factor is still revved up to eleven (that's just the nature of the series), but I think it's the book where the author put the most time into thinking about the plot and the choices the characters would make, as well as the consequences.

And yes, that would be the best list ever! :D

read the first 2 books and while i really wanted to smack the heroine's emo 'tude out of her, i like the heros ;)

haven't read the 3rd one, but will need to read that soon as i have a friend who works for the publisher and i should be getting my copy of the 4th sometime this week.

and as for comparisons to HP, other that the rabid hysteria surrounding it, no. just no.

having said that, the guy who played Cedric in HP will be playing Edward in the movie coming out in December and why yes, i will be going to see it!!!!

Haven't read any of them. They're not really my cup of tea.
