So, Bethany's post reminded me about this... I need to make a website for myself that I can include a blog in, but I have no idea how to do this. It wouldn't necessarily be a lj type blog, but more of a essay blog. My internship advisor at the museum recommended that I develop something like that so that I have writings outside of academic papers,

I don't know about the website part of this but I recommend blogger.com for the blog part. it's super easy to use, pretty much as easy as lj.

Wordpress is an excellent blogging tool.

Also, I believe Google now has a webhosting service called Google Pages if you already have a Google account. Might be worth checking out.
