I'm very curious about what Big Bang Theory writers are thinking and feeling about reviews right at this moment. Please take this poll and feel free to pimp it to others

I think it depends on WHERE you're posting as well and if you're "advertising." If you wrote a S/P story and didn't advertise on Paradox, for example, you would probably get less reviews. Also, if its posted on your LJ and its friend-locked, there will be less. But this poll is a great idea, now I know that I must go reviewing ASAP! :D
I voted yes on the last answer but I want to qualify it:
Receiving fewer reviews for stories doesn't make me less eager to write, exactly, and it doesn't make the fic ideas come any slower, but it does make me less excited about them. And it's not because I write for reviews, or for praise, or because I want people to know my name, but it does seem to be defeatist to put effort into something that it's going to affect people or isn't going to get any response from the community.
Mostly though, I try to use fan fiction to work out certain problems that I know I have with my writing. I do it to work with different genres, different tenses, different styles, and when there's little feedback, it's hard to know whether people think certain things/changes are working. And the reviews don't have to be all "OMG I THINK THIS IS THE BEST STORY EVER WRITTEN IN THE HISTORY OF THE ENTIRE WORLD," just an "Read this, thank you!" is more than enough for me.
I think we should start a fic comm for concrit, because there are stories I've written where I think, "I could've pushed myself more," and there are stories I've read where I want to ask, "Why did this character make this choice? How does this go with the arc or the theme?" And I feel like as much as we say we welcome concrit, no one gives it, and not everyone really means it. BUT I DO. I think there should be a place where people who really do welcome the criticism and can hack whatever people might through at them can put their fic up, in an environment of "We want to be better writers."
I'm constantly coming up with ideas and trying to write them, but when the comment count is low, it lowers my desire to write/finish and post? Because it makes me think I'm not very good and that then makes me think why bother if I'm not very good.
For me, it isn't so much that I don't think I'm not good (which is probably misguided bravado) as much as it is 'If people can't take thirty seconds to comment, why am I taking hours and hours to write it?'
I know how depressing it can be to throw a party and have nobody show up, so I post a comment for every fic I read, unless it is a multi-part. I generally like to wait until those are complete before even reading (Everyone talking about 'Paladin' all the time is making me want to cave on that rule though ;))
(Un?)fortunately, there is just so much getting posted every day that it is hard to keep up with and am WAY behind on reading.
Wish I had happened upon this thread earlier cause it's such interesting discussion. Have to say ditto to all you said. I write fanfic so I can share with everyone and I hope they enjoy it. If few people comment, I figure they didn't enjoy it and I feel like I haven't achieved my goal.
