We're Gonna Frickin' Lose This Thing

McKay seems pretty much on the ball, but he's not nearly so passionate for his position as David Zucker, the maker of An American CarolThe trailer is a horror. Bill O'Reilly promotes the movie during his show. Bill puts about as much effort into the promo spots as when Krusty went into the studio to record ( Read more... )

nonsense.
the fact that the press is slanted toward the right and the trivial, it's freakin' amazing that we're essentially tied right now.

what's more, we're tied right after the slight lift in the polls that came from the repub convention.
after that subsides, we'll be in better shape.

what's more, mccain is a near vegetable at this point - reagan in 1987 all the way, baby. they're managing to keep a lid on it for now, but as soon as he opens his mouth in the debates, he's lunch.

I've been saying this for months: a salad crouton could beat mccain.

I'm having flashbacks to the Quayle-Bentsen debate. Bentsen wiped the floor with Quayle, but it didn't stop the Republican steamroll.

Oh, I know. I brought up the Dukakis debate gaffe at Drinking Liberally on Tuesday.

Speaking of which, I'm older than some of the people in the crowd -- mostly people in their mid-twenties to mid-thirties -- and it reminds me of being in my early twenties and hearing older liberals talk about Goldwater and McGovern, when I bring up the Dukakis debacle.

On the other hand, the youngsters thought I was incredibly witty when I made the "you're no Hillary Clinton" joke.

Or maybe they were only indulging me.

I think the fallacy in that piece is that the corporate overlords are stacking the election for mccain. I don't think they are. I think the corporate overlords are scared shitless of what another 4 years of bush will do to this country and the world (and thereby, their profits). the defense contractors know they'll be gettin' paid whoever is president, so that's a wash. other corporations realize that another Great Depression (or worse) is going to hurt their bottom lines and they can't allow that.

watch them start to fuck mccain over as we head into october.

I disagree that corporate overlords are nervous. I think they're looking to see what this or the next administration will do to bail out the big 3 automakers -- and they're getting ready to stand in line.
