Hello. I am new to this community, so let me introduce myself. I am Crumpets. I am 'Candi Sweet' in FanFiction.net. I joined this community because of my love of B-Daman.

As I am new here, I will show to you something that I have discovered.

It was very shocking. I was looking through the internet looking for the word, 'Phoenix'. I found this website ( Read more... )

Welcome! This is really interesting, given all the concepts they did borrow. I'd need more evidence, personally, since the Phoenix is present in several cultures. But it's a good start.

Please lj-cut the bulk of the story.

Thank you for your warm greeting, Shusu. I am glad that you find it so. I will look into this more to be sure. I like reading Greek mythology. :)

I am so sorry. I didn't know how at first. Thank you for that useful link though. I'll remember that from now on.

Oooh! Hello! Welcome to the community, Candi! It's me, FCM ^_^

Wow, that's cool, goes to show how much Eiji borrowed from culture (reminds of Shaman King, Takei did a lot of borrowing too, but Eiji's is more subtle). Well, Joe's B-daman IS Phoenix based.

Thanks for the welcome, FCM! (^.^)

Yeah, I think it's cool too. There's a lot of reasons why I think they made his character that way.

If I'm right, it is also from the Phoenix where they got his name.

The Japanese Phoenix is called the Hou-oo/Hoo-oo. "Hou" is the male phoenix and the "Oo" is the female phoenix. There is some resemblance of this to the Chinese Phoenix.

If you notice Joe's Japanese name, Jou Tetsunosuke. The male phoenix, "Hou" is quite similar to it. Just change the "H" to "J" and you have his name.

If my hunch is right, that is where they got his name.

Your welcome! You know, in the video game, Joe's Bdaman is named "HunouFudoMaru" Or at least that's what I can understand...it's a bit jumbled in my game.
