That's one of those ideas that sounds neat in theory but sucks in execution.

What California's largest no-cage, no-kill, lifetime cat sanctuary and adoption center really means is "cat prison, mostly life sentences".

When pounds are killing millions of animals a year, they save the ones they can, and kill the low-percentage shots. The no-kill shelters rescue those low-percentage shots and wind up with warehouses of unwanted cats, with no real hope of adopting any of 'em, and with that many cats in close proximity, they all wind up going feral and sharing each others' diseases, further reducing the likelihood of any of 'em getting adopted.

It is indeed 'crazy cat lady' on a grand scale.

We really enjoyed. I have a friend who volunteers there. The cats are all so happy and the place is kept just spotless. It's really lovely. Unless you're allergic I guess.
