FIC: the waters and the wild (fantasy/horror!AU; R, violence) ashen_key August 6 2012, 01:03:38 UTC
A/N: I was going to write a merfolk!AU, but that would have taken too much world-building, so I wrote Natasha as being an undead water spirit from Slavic folklore instead. (If that's not an insight into how my brain works, I don't know what is.)

WARNING: graphic violence, consumption of humans

the waters and the wild

It may have happened like this:

There is a boy and there is a girl. He's well-to-do; he likes books, and has a future like so many people who have money do. She dances at the local hall for the traders and sailors; she's the loveliest girl most of them have seen, and she dances too fast for them to see the repairs in her skirt ( ... )

This is awesome! Love how you used Russian mythology but still found a place for SHIELD. Also, the writing is wonderful and I love the characterization.

Also isn't there a fairytale movie where Jeremy Renner is Hansel? It's like a predone crossover! :P

CALLING ALL THE PEOPLE! This is deliciously dark, full of fairytale wonderfulness, gorgeously written, and so clever that we could write odes of meta dedicated to it. Drop what you're doing: READ THIS FIC.
