What exactly is the past? In the dictionary it is defined as "having existed or occurred in an earlier time". If one can't remember their past, does that mean they don't exist? Excuse this entry if you find it rambling, I get on these streaks of thinking about this. Upon first meeting people I ask about their past, favorite childhood memory, ( Read more... )

Your past may hold part of you Daniel, but your future is what you need to make. Your future is more important, it holds the key to your life. The past is over and done with, so even though you can't remember it, it's not like your missing out on much. As long as you remember the good things in your life. Most of us can barely remember the good times anyway, only the bad ones, because those stick in your head easier. I love you Daniel! Just keep living life, let memories fall into place, and your friends will always help you with remembering the good times! Mwah.

Do you not agree that the past is what sets you up to be who you are in the future. If one cant remember the past how would they remember what mistakes were made?

Yes I believe it helps make a person who they are; every obstacle in life does that. However, not every journey is worth remembering. Some mistakes are left to be forgotten, which also helps us stronger and grow as a person. Believe me there are plenty of things in my past I wish I could forget. If I did I'd be a lot happier. Instead my past haunts me!

i think when something bad happens to us, we block it out. unfortunately, because we try so hard to block out the bad, when end up blocking out a lot of the good, so we remember nothing, or what we do remember is extremely blurry (comma happy are we ren?...)

but daniel, maybe it's better this way? maybe the past you don't remember would have made you into a person you don't want do be. and maybe these new memories that you're making now will shape and mold you into a person you're happy with becoming. or maybe i have no idea what i'm talking about. yeah. that's probably it. but it sounded good.
