Summary: Takes place during the film. Arthur has a tea party with his inner fatalist.
Why the fuck do I work with Cobb? Must be a death wish. A limbo wish in this case.
Fischer is more prepared for us than it had appeared. It's my fault, and I'm baffled, because I went deep into his background and nothing showed up, but it obviously happened, because we're drawing startlingly accurate fire. He was trained, and he was trained well. Frankly, it smells like Mathis, who is probably the best subsecurity consultant aside from Cobb. And as good as I am at my job, he's out of my league; his clients have bested me more often than not. Here's hoping Fischer's a crappy student.
But it wasn't difficult enough, apparently. Cobb has introduced a new hitch, which makes this the most dangerous job we've ever had, hands down. This well-prepared subconscious kills us, we're as good as dead. We lose our minds in limbo.
And then, and then, Cobb… fucking Cobb decides that the way to operate my dream level is to run a previously unsuccessful gambit. In a job with an unprecedented three levels, with heavy sedation, with Mathis-trained subsecurity, and in my dream, where I'm tasked with keeping not only myself alive, but five vulnerable sleepers, he's gonna gamble on Mr. Charles.
I'm as good as dead. I'm not usually a fatalist, but if ever there was a time…
Cobb starts his Mr. Charles drill, Yusuf is rattling us all around that damn van, and I can see the shapes of guns popping up beneath the coats of Fischer's projections as they stare at us.
Fuck it. This is about to fail, I'm about to be killed and fall into limbo. Might as well go with a little sugar. Gimme a kiss…
…Shit. That was a good kiss.
Oh, damn it all to hell. Now I have to get the job done and keep everyone alive, because I want to get out of the dream and kiss her again. Alright, next objective: set charges, keep sweet-lipped architect alive.
*sigh* At least Yusuf's driving seems to have improved.
