My God, I haven't posted in nearly a month and a half. I'm so sorry, dears; really, I feel terribly guilty about it. I so hoped that I could have everything finished by summer. Now that school has started, I'm absolutely swamped and anxious and not in the mood to write. I'll try to make some time to continue.

I had to redeem Lucius some way, didn’t I? I never intended to turn him into some evil, heartless bastard. I think the reason he didn’t intervene was a combination of shock and uncertainty about his feelings at that point. By the time Snape showed up, he had no reason to intervene.
That particular line was actually spoken by Snape; sorry for not making that clearer.
