Black Out
Sam had no idea his search would lead him to this. As he peered over the edge of the cliff, a sudden attack of anxiety gripped him. He slumped to his knees, his jeans sliding along the grass, leaving a streak of green stain behind. Clouds floated in the distance, dreamy and uncaring to the plights Sam had suffered and would suffer still. He struggled to catch his breath as a gust of wind bent around him. He stared, defeated, his will completely drained, Sam imagined he heard a voice. His mother spoke to him softly, her words but a whisper in his ear. As he listened, a gleam in the distance caught his eye; Sam now knew what he had to do. Carefully he emptied his pockets onto the solid ground beneath him - his keys, his phone, his wallet. Sam licked his lips, took a deep breath, and dove from the cliff's edge straight into the murky waters below.
