Being the passenger seat causes a mind cramp

Before I gained the privilege to drive, I was stuck in the passenger seat for a looong time, and that's usually the case for many out there. But after gaining the ability to drive - constantly switching off with my mother - my passenger experiences are nothing short of chaotic. I think a simple turn for the driver is faaaaar too close to the curb. ( Read more... )

I know how that is. Granted, I haven't actually driven a car in over a year, but I still know what I learned.

So I know what you're feeling.

It's like, when my mom drives, she takes the corners wide, and it's weird. Just like when my dad's driving, and his distance between the car in front and us seems different to me depending on where I'm sitting. If I'm in the passenger seat, I'm freaking out because he's getting too close. If I'm sitting in the seat behind him while my mother is with us, then she's freaking out, and I'm really not bothered.

I dunno. It's weird. But it's things I didn't notice until I drove.

Fro research's sake, in case there's something weird about the car that makes this happen, my family has two minivans.

Dude, yeah. I basically am tripping balls any time I'm not driving. It seems like every time my father or mother breaks, it's a little too hard or a little too close to the car ahead. Any time they take their eyes off the road, I freak that they're gunna miss something. I always point out things on the road like if a car is going to turn into our lane after we pass, I will make sure they acknowledge that there is a car there. Or I whine that their turn was too far into the other lane or too sharp and if a car had been in the other lane, we would've just hit them. I think it's just a natural tendency of people who have begun driving to realize how dangerous and more responsible you have to be and it's really something that people take advantage of and screw around too often with.
