there's a noticeable divide in pea-eaters. i've found that, in general: if you grew up eating canned, you're more likely to hate peas now. if you grew up eating frozen, you're more likely to like them now.
thank god i was a frozen vegetables kid.

i don't think anyone else in my family eats peas. i think i first ate them in the school cafeteria, so they were almost definitely canned and probably putrid.
it's funny, though, i was a total vegetable nut in a family of people who ate mostly meat. i gave up spinach for lent once when i was 8 and it was actually really hard.
