WOW I wish I could do that!!! I have seen some of your work and I am really amazed. Did you go to school for jewelry design? What helped you to design jewelry? I have been trying to bead for a few years now but I feel I need some professional assistance. I would love to design my own pieces. I just had to let you know that your work is appreciated. Great Job!! Mary
Thank you, Mary! I went to beading courses in 1991 and was taught looming, peyote stitch, netting and some beading crocheting. Since then I've been learning myself. I think, my best design teachers are Mother Nature, folk ornaments and sometimes genius beaders like Margie Deeb (watching her works gave me much).
OMG! AND TO THINK THAT I'VE BEEN TOO AFRAID TO TRY THIS PEYOTE TRIANGLE WEAVE (PEYOTE IS NOT ONE OF MY STRENGTHS!) ... BUT YOUR GORGEOUS CARTOON MADE IT SOOOOOOO SIMPLE! I DID FIND THAT BY GOING AROUND EACH ROW 2 - 3 TIMES BEFORE 'STEPPING UP' ADDED STRENGTH THE PIECE (AS ALWAYS) AND IT HELPS TO PULL ALL THE BEADS TOGETHER MUCH BETTER, AND THEN I FINISHED OFF BY WEAVING A SIZE 15/0 ROCAILLE INTO THE SPACES ALL AROUND THE EDGES WHICH FINISHED IT OFF BEATIFULLY! I THEN MADE 4 OF THEM (3 SIDES AND ONE FOR THE BOTTOM), AND WOVE THEM TOGETHER AT THE EDGES AND POPPED A LARGE BEAD INSIDE BEFORE STITCHING THE FINAL SEAM, AND - VOILA! I NOW HAVE A GORGEOUS 3D TRIANGLE KEYCHAIN IN SILVER-LINED GOLD & BLACK MIYUKI DELICAS WITH SIZE 15/0 SEAMS IN BLACK! I'M OFF NOW TO TRY A DOUBLE 3D TRIANGLE - TWO OF THEM STITCHED TOGETHER AT THE 'BOTTOM' SEAMS, AND WILL PROBABLY NEED TO POP TWO LARGE PEARLS INSIDE TO HELP THEM KEEP THEIR SHAPE ... I'LL LET YOU KNOW HOW IT TURNS OUT! THANK YOU ONCE AGAIN - YOU'RE ALWAYS SUCH AN INSPIRATION TO ME!! KINDEST
