I was just saying to
seperis, that my brain hadn't quite taken the day off that I planned, and I'd come up with the following things John does when he gets home:
1. Plaster himself all over a puddlejumper and coo at it, then drag Rodney inside. They go for a joyride and look at the stars and park in the atmosphere and make out.
2. Make sure he has his red ball. He'll carry it around for a week, but he keeps jingling it absentmindedly, and it drives Rodney and Teyla and Elizabeth crazy. Ronon thinks it's funny and offers to play with him. John kicks it around with his fingers while he's thinking, but stuffs it in a drawer for a couple of days when Rodney catches him crawling around under his desk, trying to get it out of the corner.
3. There will also be a short tussle over the bunnybed, but John pretty much moves in, so it's not so much of a problem. He keeps golf balls, koosh balls, baseballs whatever in it, and once, when Rodney's really, really sick, John might um, have it in the bed with him, just you know, sitting there, while he goes to sleep, And he might be holding it at the time.
4. (This is Rodney) Rodney uses the cat tree/rajah stand as a bookcase. John puts a shade-loving fern in one of the cubbies to piss Rodney off and remind him that Botany looooves him. Rodney pointedly reminds him about the wheatgrass that made him throw up
5. Sneaks down to engineering and skateboards with Jensen and Ackles. He also checks their math. Sometimes they ask; sometimes he does it just to make sure.
6. Has a really awkward meeting with Elizabeth where she tries to apologize. He totally understands and forgives her. She never forgives herself.
7. Trades the Johnny Cash poster for some peanut M&Ms, which he gives to Rodney. Still loves the music, but the poster was giving him the heebie-jeebies.
8. Makes time for naps, when possible. With Rodney.
9. Still refs basketball for the Marines.
10. Smokes merryweed with the physics department and falls asleep in the middle of the party.
11. Sleeps as often as he can with his nose in Rodney's neck.
12. Finds a necklace made of little silver bells strung on a red string. Buys it for Kate, and just hands it to her and ducks his head, looking about six. She grins and threatens set up a rotation where he counsels the marines. He squeaks in mock terror, quickly hugs her and leaves. She puts the necklace on and presses her hand against it, her eyes shining.
13. Invents jogging tag with Ronon.
14. Misses just closing his eyes whenever he wants and just zoning out. Misses walking off and not talking to anybody when he wants to. Is glad to have his thumbs back.
15. Misses his tail as an effective communication device. Eyebrows are great, but they just don't cover it.
16. Starts doing yoga with Teyla; being flexible was fun. After about a month, he discovers that Rodney's asked her for some flexibility training, too. He makes sure he's very appreciative. They never do yoga together, with her, because they're afraid they'll start thinking of why they're doing yoga in front of Teyla and, well...that's not good. Rodney does get the silly giggles during downward dog, though, sometimes. Teyla doesn't ask.
17. Bakes cookies for Radek himself. It takes him two tries, because he forgot the sugar in the first batch, but Radek loves them and won't let Rodney have any.
18. Orders Lorne a t-shirt that says, "Hello, Jung Lovers" and gets him a set of vintage Mustang keys. Lorne buys him a ceramic bowl that says, "Lt. Col. Kitty."
19. Has odd urges to roll over, arch and show Rodney his belly every time he comes to bed for a couple weeks.
