So, I'm desperately trying to reboot myself after the holidays - coming home after a good time down home is more depression causing than a bad time, for some reason - so I'm listening to my sure-fire good mood lemmehearyousayyeah! (yeah!) play list and am currently stuck comparing Otis Redding's "Hard to Handle" vs. the same of the Black Crows ( Read more... )

I assaulted my Facebook friends with the song "Lemon Tree" by Fool's Garden.

Other pick-me-up songs I like are

Cecilia-Simon&Garfunkel
Reflections-Dianna Ross
Brown Eyed Girl-Van Morrison
Solsbury Hill-Peter Gabriel
Stand R.E.M.
Closer to Fine-Indigo Girls
No Rain-Blind Melon
America-Neil Diamond (Don't laugh!)
Virtual Reality-Rusted Root
Puttin' On The Ritz-Taco

And so many more songs I can't fit them all here! :p

I'm going to second Cecilia, and add Tub thumoing by ChumbaWumba. Maybe Blue, but I can't remember who that's by. Bohemian Rhapsody, by Queen. Fly by Sugar Ray. Yello Submarine by The Beatles. Abcdefghijklmnooqrstuvwxyz by Big Bid (SesameStreet). Baby Baluga by Raffi. Almost anything by the Bloodhound Gang (though you really have to have a bizarre sense of humour, like me!) Friends in Low Places by Garth Brooks. Lots more, and lots you've already said.

Oooh! I thought of a few more: grandma got run over by a reindeer, not sure who sings it, I want a hippopotamus for Christmasn I think it's by Shirley Temple. I had another, but it seems to have left me. Oh another Christmas one... Walking 'round in women's underwear, not sure who it's by.

You know, I love "Only", but it's on my GRRR playlist, rather than my Sunshine and Chocolate (happiness) playlist. Off the top of my head, these are my top ten happy-making songs:
"In the Sun- Joseph Arthur
"What a Wonderful World"- Louis Armstrong
"When I Grow Up:- Garbage
"Alone I'm Lonely"- Pink
"Send Your Love"- Sting
"True"- Concrete Blonde
"Dancing Barefoot"- U2
"Falling for the First Time"- Barenaked Ladies
"Glorious Dawn"- Synphony of Science
"Why Worry Now"- Dire Straits

I'm delurking to comment--I couldn't resist this one :P My surefire cheer-up song is "Send Me On My Way" by Rusted Root. I first heard this song on the Matilda soundtrack and I always associate with that movie :)

Btw, while delurked, just wanted to say that I love your stories and Checkmate is the series I go to whenever I am feeling lonely and miss my cats! Thank you for your wonderful writing!

I have--possibly--been caught dancing down the street singing along to my iPod on this one. In the middle of campus. :shify eyes:
