*Goiter*?!??? Wow, that is *truly* shocking and surprising -- because, you see, goiter is traditionally an inland disease (my mom saw it growing up in Wisconsin, for instance). People who grow up within winds from the ocean do not traditionally get goiter, because iodine from the ocean water gets into their food. For people on an island to get goiter implies that they aren't eating locally-grown food -- and I see, googling about, that even *coastal* villages in Haiti have goiter. Holy cats, that's shocking.
