Etsy has changed their renewal policy, so now instead of getting 4 months tacked on to the original renewal date, now you just get 4 months from the date you renew. So, in essence, the renewal tool is pretty much just for advertising purpose, rather than continuing to have items that would other wise expire stay in your shop...which

I guess the logic was that you are paying the same fee as listing a new item, so you should get the full four months you would normally get. (But the seller is the one deciding to end the previoius listing early)
I see this change as only hurting the people that were using the renewals for advertising purposes. If you renew when the item expires (or when it is close to it), you are not loosing any of your four months.
