The wind blew softly on her face as she was looking at one certain person, admiring his beauty while writing down something that describes him in her little friend which she called diary. The bell rang and startled her, she shoved her stuffs inside her bag then ran as fast as she could, she didn’t notice that her small diary was left on the ground. She is Rai Hayashi, freshman student and was deeply in love with Jesse Lewis, a guy ahead of her.
“EH? Where’s my….” She said when she realized that something was gone, she then thought of what could be the worst case scenario, she saw in her imagination how her crush picks up the diary and scans through the pages then he will read its contents and finds out her feelings.
“Oh my.. that can’t beee!” She rushed back to her previous location to search for the lost thing, she saw no trace of it but she’s confident that if there’s a place she could possibly left it, that would be exactly where she’s standing at the moment.
As she bend and hover in search, she was stopped by the presence around, she knew already who were they and what bad luck they bring.
“Hi Rai-chan!” The petite girl named, Miku started as her backups smirked. “Are you looking for this?”
Rai’s eyes widened as she ran to Miku and grab her diary but she failed to do so. She begged for them to bring back her most precious note but instead of giving it back, they challenged her.
“Im going to give it back to you in one condition!” Miku said, Rai listened eagerly, determined to have her diary back.
“Confess your feelings to Jesse-kun!” Rai was taken aback at what Miku have said, she shook her head violently telling them her opposition.
“Why not? You know, it would be more embarrassing if Jesse-kun reads what’s written inside!” Miku giggled, remembering how cheesy the words Rai used.
“Okay! I’ll do it!” Rai responded quickly, she thought of it also, she’ll experience less embarrassment if she would tell it to him face to face, at least he wouldn’t be able to read all her cheesiness.
Rai was gathering all her courage and thick-skinnedness as she was waiting for Jesse outside the school premises while Miku with her backups are hiding making sure that Rai will do as they said.
“Ne Miku-chan, why did you ask her to do that?” One of her backups, Saku asked.
“Simply to have her out of my way, you know, many girls are after my prince. If she confessed to him, she’ll get rejected or maybe she won’t show her face in front of him anymore because of embarrassment!” She smiled evilly at the thought.
“Miku-chan is really diligent when it comes to love!”
As Rai waits, her heart is thumping hard against her chest like it’s going to explode anytime soon, she clenched her fist and breathe in when the angel she is waiting for descended from the gate of the school. She bit her lower lip and walked in front of him.
“Jesse-kun!” She said, head low.
“Ah~ you’re Sato-kun’s friend, right? What’s your name again?” Jesse replied with questions.
“Ah-my name is Rai Hayashi and…. and I… I like you Jesse-kun!” She blurted out almost yelling. Jesse became silent as well as his friends Taiga and Hokuto.
“I know this is so sudden! But I really really like you!” And with that, Rai ran away and hide, Miku laughed her lungs out with what she have witnessed but as her promise to Rai, she will return her diary.
“That was the funniest confession I have ever seen so far!” Miku commented while handing Rai her diary. She didn’t reply and just walked away.

Rai went to the nearest park from their house, she swung herself as she sighed thinking of what happened earlier. Suddenly, someone placed a sipping straw between her lips, it was her friend Shori Sato.
“I saw you talking to Miku… what happened? Did she bully you?” He asked directly while making her hold the milkshake he bought.
“No. That’s not it…”
“Then what?”
“He knew already…”
“Who?” Shori was confused.
“Jesse-senpai. He knew already that I like him!”
Shori choked with what he heard, he’s been friends with Rai since they were in elementary but he never knew about this, he wanted to feel bad but he couldn’t because his friend needs someone right now.
“What’re you up to?” Said Shori, Rai noticed the change in his tone, like he’s disappointed or something but all she could sense is he’s not happy.
“I don’t know.” She replied, she stared at him trying to figure out his emotion. “You seem..uhm.. down?”
“Wanna know why?” He asked back, she nodded her head. “It’s because this is the first time I heard about you liking Jesse-kun. I mean maybe this is unreasonable but I’m your friend, right? Best friend!” Shori gave emphasis to the word ‘best’. He just needs to tell it to her so she wouldn’t be bothered why he’s feeling disappointed.
“You have every right to feel that way, Im sorry, Shori.” Rai lowered her head. Today wasn’t good to her, how could she confide her problem now to the one and only person who listens to her. He’s right, he should be the one to know it first because they’re always together side by side and if you don’t know them you’ll think they are some sort of weird, funny couple who loves displaying their weirdness in public. “Can I explain?” Rai waited for him to answer.
“You don’t have to.” He started. “As your best friend I should listen to your problems, I should be the one soothing your feelings and not making it harder for you. I don’t want you to explain, you don’t owe me one. I am also sorry.” His lips pursed and his eyes smiled.
What he reasoned out was only a part of it, the main reason why he’s disappointed is the fact that Rai likes Jesse maybe as much as he likes her. He considers his feelings for her as ‘love’ and not just a sort of admiration. They’ve been together for a long time now and he knows everything about her-maybe not about her liking Jesse. But he thought, maybe he missed a thing, he should have noticed it but maybe again, she’s just damn good at hiding it.
Rai smiled lightly, feeling a little pinch of guilt rushing through her veins but his smile-genuine smile turned that little pinch to nothing. She was more than thankful for having him, she was so lucky.
“Shori.” She mumbled.
“Stop worrying about what I feel, it doesn’t suit you!” He threw the tissue paper wrapped around the glass of milkshake to her as he laughed, not a force one.

Since the day she confessed to Jesse, Rai stopped showing off her face during practice games, of course with obvious reason. Shori finds it unfair for him, she should be there, she should be supporting him but because Jesse is also there, he started to doubt her intentions of going there before. Was it because she’s his best friend and her support is a must? Or because she likes Jesse and supporting him secretly means a lot? He didn’t like this feeling, he didn’t like doubting her. So instead of thinking anything, he tried to understand her, of course she’d feel embarrassed.
On the other side of the story, Miku succeeded with her plan, she was right.

“Sato-kun!” Taiga shouted, trying to catch their kouhai’s attention. Shori looked back as he wrenches his sports bag on his shoulder.
“Taiga-senpai?”
“We haven’t seen your friend waiting or watching our practice for almost a week now… is she alright?” He asked sounding concern but Shori can sense the tease in his voice.
“Unn.. she’s fine! Maybe she got a lot of things to do right now.” He answered.
Jesse overheard their conversation, actually, he’s worried about her; Rai, he wasn’t able to give her a response when she confessed. Even he, was surprised that moment but he had no plan on turning her down. He’d been noticing her everytime she was there to wait for her friend, and he thinks she’s a kind person, he could see nothing bad about dating her.

Shori walked home alone, while sloshing through puddles of water along his way, he heard Jesse called him. He frowned for a second but deftly change his facial expression into a smile.
“Earlier, it’s Taiga-senpai and now it’s you Jesse-senpai…” He said jokingly. Jesse smiled and ruffled his hair.
“I’m sorry. Am I disturbing you?” Jesse asked, Shori shook his head while grinning.
Jesse seemed contemplating about the words that he would like to spill out of his mouth, his eyes wandered around and let it fall anywhere, Shori noticed it so he chuckled, a very manly chuckle.
“Are you okay, senpai?” Jesse just smiled.
“I know she told you that she confessed to me, right?” He started, Shori nodded. “Is it okay… if I go out with her?” Jesse continued.
Shori was surprised to hear it, well not really surprised but more of disappointed. He likes his best friend so much but his best friend likes another guy and now this guy is like asking for his permission to date his best friend. He couldn’t pull out a reply.
“W-why are you asking me? Im not his father…” Shori replied trying not to sound aghast.
“Yeah right, why am I asking you? Maybe because I think you’re the best friend and your permission is a must.”
Their conversation goes on, Shori tried not to sound like what he’s feeling right at the moment; totally against his plan of dating her.
“Jesse-senpai… I hope you don’t mind if I ask you why would you want to date her..” Shori started “why would you date her? Is it because she confessed her feelings and getting her would be easy?”
Jesse was offended with his question, his forehead creased but he smiled it off, he couldn’t blame him for thinking that way.
“Partly, yes.” Jesse breathed in before continuing. “But, I wanted to date her, out of my own will. I started noticing her even before she confessed to me, her squeals, her hilarious laughs and everything about her. I think I like her and that only hits me when my stomach churned and I felt warm all over when she ran to me and confessed.”
Shori has nothing against what he said, he scratched the back of his head and started walking away.
“I like her too but I’ll let you have her for now..”
Jesse didn’t follow him and walked the opposite direction.

“Hi!” Jesse knelt in front of Rai when he saw her sitting under a tree inside the school.
“J-Jesse-kun!” She jumped away from him and automatically hid her diary behind her.
“Last time, you didn’t wait for my reply.”
“Ah gomeeen~” Rai bowed her head, her hands gripped tighter behind her.
“I’d like to go out with you!” Jesse said in his smile.
Rai guffawed, maybe out of nervousness and surprise. She tried to process what he said but the nerves in her brain seemed to malfunction.
“Jesse-kun, you don’t have to return my feelings, don’t force yourself.” She mumbled, not looking at him. She thinks he was just being chivalrous.
“No. I really like to go out with you!”
Jesse gave her an angel-like smile that successfully sent her whirlwind of emotions. She bit her lower lip and nodded at him.

Jesse chuckled as he kept on reading through her diary. They’ve been together for almost two years but this is the first time she let him touch her little friend, everytime he laughs, Rai hits him.
“Stop it!” She robbed her diary from him but he was able to pull it back.
“Im sorry! This is cute!” He commented, putting his arms around her.
“You’re cuter!” She replied.
And their non-sense conversation goes on.
