My Pottermore Experience - Sorting

I got GRYFFINDOR!

FUCK YEAH, MUThAFUCKAS!

I had always hoped that I'd be a Gryffindor, and I'm really proud to find out that it's true.

Sorting Questions:

. Which of the following would you most hate people to call you?
1. ordinary
2. ignorant
~ 3. cowardly
4. selfish

This felt kind of obvious. Clearly the answers are Slytherin, Ravenclaw, Gryffindor, and Hufflepuff, in that order. Choosing 3 felt like cheating at first, but then I realized that "cowardly" would sting the most. Due to my agoraphobia, I often feel like a coward, and I hate that part of myself. So 3 is my honest answer.

. You enter an enchanted garden. What would you be most curious to examine first?
1. The silver leafed tree bearing golden apples
2. The fat red toadstools that appear to be talking to each other
~ 3. The bubbling pool, in the depths of which something luminous is swirling
4. The statue of an old wizard with a strangely twinkling eye

How weird is this question?? This had me stumped for a good ten minutes. I knew I'd never choose 4. And 2 is interesting but not a little too strange. Like, I'd be creeped out by them. I thought 1 was pretty, but when it came down to it I don't reckon it needs "examining." 3 was by far the most intriguing to me. So long as the "something luminous" isn't a gross sea-creature anything. 'Coz that'd freak me out.

. A troll has gone berserk in the Headmaster's study at Hogwarts. It is about to smash, crush and tear several irreplaceable items and treasures, including a cure for dragon pox, which the Headmaster has nearly perfected; student records going back 1000 years and a mysterious handwritten book full of strange runes, believed to have belonged to Merlin. In which order would you rescue these objects from the troll's club, if you could?
I SAID:
1. Dragon pox cure
2. Merlin's book
3. Student records

This wasn't even a question to me. I don't know who would arrange them any other way. The dragon pox cure will save lives, Merlin's book is irreplaceable history, and the student records are FUCKING POINTLESS. Done.

. If you could have any power, which would you choose?
1. The power to read minds
2. The power of invisibility
3. The power of superhuman strength
4. The power to speak to animals
5. The power to change the past
~ 6. The power to change your appearance at will

I automatically ruled out 3, 4 & 5. I don't need "superhuman" strength and if I actually want to be stronger than I am I should workout more. Don't care about animals, and I was briefly tempted by being able to change the past but you can't be sure what ramifications that would have. So 1, 2 & 6. Well, 2 didn't seem very practical. How often would you use that? And 1, while greatly appealing, might do more harm than good. You can't unhear things. Changing your appearance can be both fun and practical.

. Which road tempts you most?
1. The wide, sunny, grassy lane
2. The narrow, dark, lantern-lit alley
~ 3. The twisting, leaf-strewn path through the woods
4. The cobbled street lined with ancient buildings

This I answered similarly to my Wand Selection question, where I said I'd go onward toward the forest. I considered 2, the alley, because the image they used appealed to me, but I thought about the words, the description, and it sounded vaguely creepy.

. Forest or river?
~ Forest

Same as above. I hesitated. The river also called to me. But I went forest.

. Left or right?
~ Right

This actually gave me pause. I'm right-handed, but I've always favored my left since childhood, from an odd sense of pity. Like I felt bad for it, because I'm a righty. So I thought about which one I favored more, fundamentally. I keep my cellphone exclusively in my right pocket. Pants, jacket, whatever. Doesn't matter, it's always on the right. So I picked right.

and then I saw:

I would have been okay with Hufflepuff. I could never be Ravenclaw or Slytherin, though. The way you enter Ravenclaw Tower, answering a riddle, is something I could never do on a daily basis. That alone prevents me from being in that house. As for Slytherin, I'm not ambitious enough. I have aspirations, but I'm not driven, and that's Slytherin's (actual) defining trait. (Though JKR would have you believe their defining trait is EVIL because the woman has no concept of gray areas.)

Gryffindors are stubborn, hot-headed, opinionated. They're sticklers for the rules they decide to enforce, but are toootally fine with bending the rules when it's within their own pervue. They're fiercely defensive of others, always rooting for the little guy. I didn't want to be Gryffindor because it's the popular one, Harry Potter's house, I wanted to be Gryffindor because I feel like I am.
