A short note before "women, love and war": I didn't and don't know any of Dylan Thomas' works, let alone who he and his wife were, nor do I care to know.
To conclude what I think and feel about the movie, here's my pros and cons:
cons:
- The tagline "Wife, Husband, Friends, Lovers" --- before I watched the movie, because of that tagline, I thought that it was going to be about 4 people, 4 characters. But this movie was more about 2 characters, Vera and Caitlin, their unlikely friendship despite the love they gave to the same man, Dylan. There was hardly anything about their husbands, maybe the early part before the story went to set in Wales was there some insights on Dylan Thomas, but other than that -- no, not really.
- Dylan Thomas --- Matthew Rhys was okey; the character, he played, however, was not. Other than that he couldn't decide between Vera and Caitlin, and that he slept around, get druck because he's a poet, and that's the way it is, I find it hard to understand anything eles about him. To me, in the movie, it was like he mattered to the main story because he brought the women together, and he was the one that tear their friendship apart. There was no reason why he was still in love with Vera, and why he wouldn't leave Caitlin.
- Keira Knightley --- Even though she could sing very well, her acting wasn't so bad; it was good, in fact, but it wasn't good enough for this story. Her 'smile' failed to deliver the mystique in the Caitlin vs. Vera, one of the most important scene in the movie. Her face wasn't that emotional enough that I feel for Vera. Most of all, her not being good enough allowed Caitlin to outshine Vera when the movie was more about Vera than any other characters.
pros:
- The pictures --- This film was beautifully shot. It has this vivid, dream-like colour for London and became softer, more reality when the story moved to set in Wales. Both served it purpose very well.
- The storyline, as I mentioned in the last entry.
- The music was great, very emotional!
- The dialogues, touching and amazing.
- Sienna Miller --- This is turning to be a praise for Miller in any minute, but she was really, really good, in my opinion. She was convincing, and I actually feel for her that I looked up her character name, Caitlin McNamara, after watching the movie, wanting to know more about her. What I like the most was her facial expression; Miller was able to express what was not being said very well, better than Knightley did in the same scene even.
Caitlin mused the life she didn't live because of being with Dylan.
"He thinks I am put on this earth to nurture his talents, cook for him, have his children, clean for him. That's all I'm here for"
Caitlin's warning
"The past I can forgive.
Caitlin's breakdown
Caitlin found out --- I really love her expression, it was very brief, but really made an impact.
I love her look in this scene
"You're on my earth, Caitlin, just where I want you to be."
Quote, quote, quote!!
"I might like you. Then again, I might not"
"What am I in your sky? - "You're on my earth, Caitlin, just where I want you to be"
"First love is alright as far as it goes."
"The past I can forgive"
"Tell me you love me. - Come back alive and I'll say it. Come back to me and I'll say anything you want"
"You're drunk in charge of bike. - What are you drunk in charge of?"
"Friends don't lie to each other"
"You'll find it in cesspit, then, along with my only life!"
"William's my world"
"If you have sent my beloved husband to jail, I will never forgive you"
"Write, Catty. Write to me."

So, my conclusion,The Edge of Love is worth a watch!
P.S. I'm glad that they changed the movie tittle from "The Best Time of Our Lives" into this one.
