I was wondering why they would do that in the USA until I saw the "Mexican" ad. No wonder. They do that a lot here but I don't know why.

The neighborhood that i took this picture in is a ethnically mixed neighborhood. I think everyone had a hand in decorating the phone lines. It was even done as far back at the early 70's or more. I just never saw so many in one spot :)

this is such a cool pic .. at first I thought they were birds (yes, crazy huh)? but shoes??
Maybe they appear on power lines over here too but I've never seen them ..:)

Oh I am sure it happens by you too! Where ever there are bored kids they will be shoes on power lines :)

I heard that drug dealers sling them over power lines to indicate they are in the neighbourhood. That might be an urban myth though...who knows. They do it here in Australia too - some suburbs more than others I guess.

I often wonder, do people walk to these power lines with these shoes on, then walk home barefoot, or do they take extra shoes?!?!

And then I wonder....why would you toss up a good pair of shoes when you only have to go out and buy more - LOL!

Another take on flying feet. yes we get that even in the country, but the most baffling one is a hula hoop I have seen somewhere, how was it put round? Another local specialty--- one shoe in the roadway...I am always wondering about the story behind it... a drunken night out with the boys? fell out when the door opened? walked off in a temper and lost a shoe?... want to know why? Why one shoe....?
