I might venture a wild guess - did you sell the business or something? Anyway: Yay for being free! Sounds wonderful - as wonderful as that trip to France. Are you going anywhere special? I've lived in the Loire-region for six months, it's a great place to be.
Yes we sold the business. We are in London for 5 days, then chunneling to Paris for 5 days, then to Amboise in the Loire Valley for 4 nights and then we are going to make it up. Mostly I think we will head south. Any suggestions?
Hoping that this answer isn't too late (note to self: Check journal more often): Amboise is great, I loved the Clos Lucé where Leonardo da Vinci spent his last years. The three big Cs (Chenonceaux, Chambord, Cheverny) are good visits, too - I personally like the first the most. The small castles are wonderful, too - my personal favourite is Fougère sur Bievre, a medieval chateaufort, not one of the delicate castles of the later periods. I lived in Romorantin, there's a museum of the Sologne-region in the city, and if you like fishing or the likes, the area's great, too. Always worth a visit: the local markets. I worked at one for a week, as a friend of mine produces fruit, vegetables and flowers, and the atmosphere is ... so French! ;-) Very good description, I know ....
