KBB is the authority, PERIOD. sure, you can start from there and lower the price to make your car more desireable, or to be competitive in a saturated market, but any buyer should be prepared to pay KBB's price.
dealerships are kind of a different story. for private sellers kbb is still the best bet. although, after a few sample pricings kbb and nada quotes were within 5.3% of each other (even though nada only states the average and doesn't have an option for the condition of the car).
