How to help someone

There has to be a way to help someone, even if they live in another country, right ( Read more... )

The counsellor may not have the right to report the parents for abuse, or may have other reasons for not having done so. I suggest a child welfare/protection agency. No one should have to live in/through abuse.

Back when this was going on, the only number I was able to find online was a 24 hour abuse report line. I was informed at that time that the counsellor actually has a legal obligation to report the abuse, which didn't surprize me. But, I'm stunned that they did not see fit to protect this boy, knowing what he lives with. Apparently he doesn't know that it was me who reported it, because he hasn't contacted me about it. This is good. I haven't heard that he's been removed though. This is not good. He's a teen, at least, and not so helpless that he can't call the police or a hotline himself. But, I do hope they are doing something for him.
