A bonus track from the Nine soundtrack:
Unusual Way (C. Maury Yeston) sung by Griffith Frank.
I wish I could sing like that.
And those lyrics.
Stunning.
Shattering.

I think to give Griffith's a flavor of it's own they went with this arrangement as opposed to a string arrangement like Nicole Kidman has within the film. This kid has awesome pipes.

Absolutely wonderful vocal on a one of my favorite songs from the NINE score. Is it cut from the movie? If it is, it's a travesty. It's powerful and this young guy does a terrific job with what is a woman's song in the musical.

I can't help but be a bit distracted by the pianist's awful comb over:)

Nicole Kidman sings it (rather well) to Daniel Day-Lewis in the film. Not being familiar with the score I did some digging around and found much has been omitted. Only eight numbers remain from the show augmented by three new numbers written for the film.

Fergie steals the show with Be Italian, Marion Cotillard turns in a heartbreaking My Husband Makes Movies and Judi Dench goes to town with Folies Bergere. Poor Penelope Cruz does what she can with A Call From the Vatican the showstopper from the show that I was led to expect more from... But make no mistake, her I like. The song, not so much.

Of the numbers written for the film only Guarda la Luna performed by Sophia (She Is A Living Legend) Loren works for me. Cinema Italiano knocked out by Kate Hudson sizzles only because, like Ms. Cruz, Ms. Hudson sells it so well. The second number for Ms. Cotillard Take it All advances the story and makes plot points but that's about it.

Oh, and Mr. Day-Lewis has a pair of songs as well: Guido's Song & I Can't Make This Movie.

Well, now we know why NINE wasn't well received. The cut out many of the best songs from the BWAY score.

Well I had no familiarity with the show save for seeing Be Italian on the Tony's way back when in the early 80s. It is a good film from POV, it just wasn't marketed well and shoved in amongst huge holiday blockbusters. I saw it 4x... One time with just two other patrons in the theatre. It's sad when a film gets tossed away like that. Hopefully it will have life in home video.
