So, I'm stitching along, in my studio (as I do) and I see some motion, out of the corner of my eye. I stop stitching and look. It's a little roly-poly mouse. I think to myself, "Self, why it's a little fieldmouse. How cute!"

Then, I think to myself,"Self, mice make nests in fabric and yarns, of which, you have great ( Read more... )

What a cheeky mouse!

But better than me finding the back half of a mouse stuck to the kitchen floor the other day (cats!)

I popped into your LJ to ask if you'd ever ended up getting one of those needle-grabber plastic things that help you get the needle through the ground (and any threads already there), and if so - do you find it useful?

I picked one up, it's good if the only problem is a stuck needle. I work on a hoop (rather than a frame) so there are spots where my fingers are too big to get a good grip on the needle, that's where the tweezers come in handy.

and regarding the mousey bits...eww!

I'm glad it's of some use.

Why hoops instead of frames?

PS Tweezers to get a needle though a tough spot. Ow!

I like hoops because of the scale I work. Since most of my flower petals are less than 1 inch (about 2 cm)It works better for me, to have them as close to my magnifying visor as possible. I'll be using a frame when I work on an embroidered necklace. (and I'm looking at EZ tite also :) )

(oh, some of the detached buttonhole stitch I've actually had to work the stitching using tweezers, to get around the pinbackings)
