Perhaps they wish to give us something to do? Though I would rather have something else than merely reopening places that had been found.

I dunno, it seems pointless to have us reopen them for no reason-- unless they've got issues with their sense of humour.

That could very well be the reason. It could be part of their game or reason for keeping us here... to amuse whoever has keep of this house.
