4th has a different view for me

Today people will be off work, celebrating, barbequeing, watching fireworks and having pool parties celebrating the 4th of July. Today has a much different meaning for me

I'm sorry about your loss. I didn't know 4th of July has a different effect on you. Do you gather with family on this day?

I lost my Dad in 6/20/1998. We would do our round of phone calls on that day in remembrance.

the first couple of years i went over to my moms but she forbade me this year and is off on her own this year on a trip. I'll call my sister later today and see how she is doing.

Thank you for posting this. I lost my Dad in July 2002 as well. After his open heart surgery (1989), he took up a post-retirement hobby of part time fireworks work (with Grucci on Long Island). So I always think of him on the Fourth.

I am glad you are connecting with family as much as you can.
