Is your concern born out of an obligation, or otherwise? [ This former Knight was quite curious. ]

One's service to another rarely leaves time for such thoughts. [ However she wanted to interpret "service" was up to her. ...in hindsight, he should have made this a private reply. ]

It is born from both, good sir. I am obligated to feel concern for those whom I have helped, but you can be certain that it is genuine.

During a time in which help is needed, there is no time for such thoughts. In the aftermath, however... It is the opposite.

That is... an unfortunate truth.

Something happened. [ From what she said, it wasn't a question. ]

Do not fret. Everything is all right. [If Zelda is listening carefully, she may detect otherwise.]

[ Zelda is a very perceptive woman. ] Such statements as these are not made by one knowing peace of mind.

You see and understand much.

I am not completely at peace. But what has been done cannot be changed, and I will not regret any of it.

....

[Welp, that totally strikes a chord with Med'an.]

I don't think I can stop worrying.

It is not a simple thing to do, no matter how much we wish it to be.

...it's natural to worry about people. Maybe we shouldn't stop.

*The tone isn't strong, it's raspy and weak he hasn't been awake long, but he remembers that voice from when he was dying in the woods. He has to wonder if it's not him she's speaking about, he didn't know yet how long he had been out, it had to have been several days, yet here he was alive and human. If severely weakened and still recovering from the injuries.*

......You helped me, why?

[Whereas the notes of concern were only perceptible if you were listening closely, now they are very clear and easily heard.]

You were in need, and I was close by. How could I leave you there?

*He remains silent, she is worried about him? This is confusing, people who saw him for what he was being concerned? He had always been told that freedom would get him killed.*

Because, I'm an animal and now what if, what if it happens again?

You are more than an animal. But if you were not, I would have treated you the same.

If it happens again... There are options. Hide yourself in a faraway place, where no one will come and find you.

Perhaps you would join me for a walk this evening, we can let the worries of this world and ours disappear for awhile?

Of course. Between your work as a guard, and mine at the inn, our time alone has been limited.
