[It's a moment before Basch responds. He's taken the time to compose himself a bit, to deal with the shocking image of seeing himself stabbing the king, instead of his brother.]
A dream. [He repeats.] A nightmare of a past I'd sooner forget.
[Balthier frowned to himself as he watched the scene unfold. He, too, had relived grisly scenes from the past in his dreams, and he knew just how hard this particular scene must have struck Basch.]
[And yet who but Balthier would understand so well, friend?]
I expected no less. [Of course he sees through the lie, but he has come close to perfecting the art of having a conversation without saying what one truly means. At the very least, he's well-practiced.]
Those who matter most know that was not the way of things.

Aye. I am fine. [Which is an outright lie, but everyone knows Basch would say that he was fine to save face and worry about it later.]
