Um...yeah..its really been a year since my last post. No post for shortstackbearTimmy's birthday this year as I was actually in Atlanta spending it with him. Its not that I havent had anything TO post about this year, its actually been a really tumultuous year with lots of change. Hey JD... sounds like you are following in my footsteps of loosing a good paying job that you didn't really care about.

Although you aren't asking for advice, here's some from the heart anyway... take the time to enjoy the holidays and your family (Jenna, Ian and the dogs). Don't stress about not having a job right now, wait until the new year and then start looking again. There will be more jobs available at that time anyway.

Keep your chin up, be strong and all those other words of encouragement. You'll rebound from this... I have no doubt.

Although I have not lost my job, I know the dilemma you are going through right now in a way - minus the financial hardship. I am dead tired of what I have been doing for the last few years…so much so that I have recently contemplated quitting all together. I would like to get more out of a career, like reward for doing something good for those less fortunate, or perhaps working for a non-profit gay and lesbian organization. Well, I decided to look into the non-profit and they do not pay well. The position they offered was nearly a 50% pay cut…and there is no way I can go back to that ( ... )

Just remember that single dad = potential free money from the gov. As in, when you apply for financial aid they only see your income and that you have a child. It's the one time not being able to have a recognized marriage works in your favor. You could end up with grants instead of loans. Also you should look for apprenticeships, City Light usually has some. There are also more and more companies install radio systems in buildings where they have outside antennas that connect to indoor atennas and repeaters, because they don't get good signal inside. So many new buildings have enough metal to prevent radio signals from passing. And with everybody depending more and more on wireless it's a real growth industry. I'm sure you'll do well no matter what you decide.
