I was an adjunct prof for a long time. I think probably ten years in total, at four different colleges. I’m very glad I’m not doing it any longer!

Yes, I was born in Minsk when it was still part of Soviet Union. I was there when Soviet Union broke up when I was 11. I immigrated to US in 7th grade in 1993.
I taught writing and some history at Rutgers New Brunswick and history at Wagner College. As much as I loved teaching I'm much happier in my full time salaried job with benefits!

I taught at Rutgers too! At Mason Gross School of the Arts. I stopped teaching there probably around 2015 or 2016. Once I moved to PA, it was a bit of a hike for how little I was earning, haha. But I had a lot of great colleagues there and I loved my students.

Yeah, that transition from friendly acquaintance to actual friend is really hard as an adult. I do know people who seem to be able to do it easily but I'm not sure what their secret is! I only really made friends when I was going to the local Meetup group regularly - even then it was always kind of nerve-wracking to try to take a friendship away from group events into the "outside world"!
